The gulf between AC Milan and A-League team Perth Glory was laid bare in Thursday night’s clash at HBF Park, with the homeside team copping a nine-goal loss to the Italian side in front of 20,000 fans.
In fact, Perth soccer fans did not even get to see their team score – with the scoreboard after the final siren reading 9-0.
AC Milan raced out to a five-nil lead by half-time, before piling on more pain with four goals in the second half.
Perth Glory Head Coach David Zdrilic said you could “clearly see the level that they’re at”.
“They’re obviously in top form,” he said.
“You could just see that there’s sharpness, just so much power and speed in every aspect of their game.
“We knew that, and to see it live I thought was unbelievable.”
Zdrilic said their first goal had been scored “very quickly” but afterwards there was a period where the Glory players had settled into the game.
“But they’re able to just kill you in any moment, switch it on, and the ease of the way they were able to score the goals, obviously we are disappointed,” he said.
