Wales unveil new home and away jerseys as fans left split on details

Wales have unveiled their new rugby jerseys ahead of the new season. Wales will wear a patterned red home jersey and white alternate strip for the 2025/2026 campaign. The home kit features red and white socks, red shorts and the traditional red jersey, which is split four ways with a darker shade of red on two portions and backed by a collage of symbols. The collar is mostly white with a strip of red on the centre of the neck, with a white and red strip on the sleeves. The pattern design very much differs from the previous shirt, which was straight red. With the alternate kit, it's a white jersey that does not bear the four-way pattern. Instead, it's thin streaks of wavy blue that blend into the white, with the three feathers popping out through a contrasting red background. The collar is a similar design to the home jersey, but with white and black instead, with red and white on the sleeves. The away shorts are black with a strip of white down the side and feature black and white socks with another strip of red. You can view the home and away jerseys below. The Welsh Rugby Union said: "Cymru am byth. Wales forever. Woven into the very fabric of who we are as a nation. Today, we're proud to reveal how that fabric has inspired our new 2025-26 kit collection with Macron. "From the homely cloth that warmed our ancestors to the topographic beauty that defines our landscape, these jerseys don't just represent Wales on the field, they embody Cymru in the heart. "As with Brethyn Cartref centuries ago, the jersey is now a contemporary national costume, a red banner worn by generation after generation with unity and passion. "This kit doesn't just represent Wales on the field, it embodies Cymru in the heart. Each time the players walk out of the tunnel, the Brethyn Cartref motif stands as a symbol of all four corners of our nation uniting in one voice, our hiraeth for home and times past, and the generations of passion driving Welsh rugby onwards. Wear it with pride. "Across Wales' undulating hills and valleys, the land itself is woven like a tapestry - and now it finds voice in our 2025-26 alternate jersey. A bright white kit, etched with contour-line graphics mapping yr Wyddfa, displays a new kind of texture: a fabric of Wales. "Just as Brethyn Cartref links to the fabric of our people, this modern topographic motif enfolds our players in the essence of the nation. It conjures the ridgelines of each ascent, the sweep of each cirque, the pinnacle of both a country and the sport in Wales." Welsh rugby fans have already had their say on social media, and while some love the new design, others have slated some of the choices. One fan commented on their admiration for the red shorts, while another remarked: "Don't like red shorts, should be white." Another fan was quick to point out their distaste for the pattern on the home jersey: "Those weird patterns on it. What's that about?" A number of supporters pointed out the steep price of the jersey, which will set you back £82. "Absolutely love this, but absolutely not for the cost," said one. While one fan wrote: "This is probably the worst kit we've ever had", there were numerous others who commented: "Love this!" and: "Yeah, I like it!"
