Wanderers all-rounder Zane Marwick has won local cricket’s highest individual honour — the Doug Hogue Medal. The medal, which he also won last season, was presented on Monday night at Towns Football Club by Suzanne Hogue, Mr Hogue’s widow. Marwick also won the Cricketer of the Year award. Marwick starred for Wanderers in season 2024-25 with the bat, the ball and in the field, taking home his second consecutive Doug Hogue medal. Marwick finished his night with six awards including the Doug Hogue, A-Grade Cricketer of the Year, A-Grade batting aggregate, batting average, bowling aggregate and Keeffe Medal (best at country week). Marwick chalked up some big numbers this season with 654 runs, 28 wickets and 15 catches. Averaging a shade under 65 with the bat and nine with the ball, Marwick well and truly earned his second consecutive honour. Wanders skipper Kade Gillingham said Marwick’s presence in the team is invaluable. “Zane is a very key player for our side just for the fact that he is good at all facets of cricket,” he said. “A very technical bat, a very smart bowler and one of the best fielders in town. “He is also a very good guy with a great cricketing brain.” Women’s cricketer of the year went to Olivia Bidwell from Wanderers after a stellar season in the yellow and black. Bidwell averaged 50 with the bat and 14 with the ball whilst always being a danger in the field. Bidwell played a massive part in the Wanderers four-peat season and was a much deserving winner of women’s cricketer of the year. Under-21 Chris D’Mello Cricketer of the Year went to Sportsmans’ Zak Williamson. Williamson found his groove after moving from Chapman Valley Northampton to Sporties where he has found consistency with the ball playing alongside fellow Sporties quick Jarrod Jupp. AWARD WINNERS: Doug Hogue Medal: Z Marwick A-Grade Cricketer of the Year: Z Marwick Women’s Cricketer of the Year: O Bidwell B-Grade Cricketer of the Year: M Lucas A-Grade Batting Aggregate: Z Marwick Batting Average: Z Marwick Bowling Aggregate: Z Marwick Bowling Average: G McKenna Women’s Batting Aggregate: A Green Batting Average: A Green Women’s Bowling Aggregate: J Walker Bowling Average: S Biddiscombe B-Grade Aggregate: M Lucas Batting Average: R Trump Bowling Average: M Taylor Bowling Average: A McAuliffe Keeffe Medal: Z Marwick Women’s CW Best: O Bidwell U21 Chris D’Mello Cricketer of the Year: Z Williamson Best U19 Women’s Player: L Gillingham U19 Rose & Frank Shaw Cricketer of the Year: J Bedford Swarbrick Medal (Umpire of the Year): C Collins
