Officers used tactics to stop the vehicle as the driver was wanted for sexual offences in the West Midlands Police force area.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, StaffsRCT wrote: "Today tac tics were used to stop a VW Golf travelling on the #M6.
"The driver was wanted for Rape and Sexual assault on the @WMPolice Force area. The driver has been arrested."
The arrest came as part of Operation Lightning - a dedicated operation focusing on road safety, helping to make Staffordshire's roads safer.
It aims to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries on the roads and to disrupt and deter criminals from using the road network.
