An update will be provided as information becomes available,” the statement said. ‘Police galore’: Caller says car mounted footpath A caller to 3AW has described the scene. This is some of what they said: “It’s just a suburban street, a car has mounted the footpath. There’s four ambulances there, police galore, and all the roads are blocked off. It’s quite horrendous. The scene of the incident in Wantirna South, in which a vehicle hit multiple people.Credit: Nine News “I did not see it, but a neighbour of mine was there. Then the car took off, down the park near the playground, a person ran off, and that’s why the helicopters have been going around. “The roads are all still blocked off. No one can go down there.” Advertisement Police say condition of injured being assessed Police issued a short statement this afternoon confirming the incident but without confirming the condition of the pedestrians. It is understood multiple pedestrians have been struck by a single vehicle. The incident is not believed to be intentional. The conditions of the patients are still being assessed.
