@Source: newsweek.com
The Golden State Warriors enter Game 2 of their series with the Houston Rockets after knocking them off in Game 1 by a final score of 95-85.Unfortunately for both teams, each has two players listed on the injury report, with the Rockets ruling both Jock Landale and Jae'Sean Tate out.For the Warriors, they have Stephen Curry and Gary Payton II listed on the injury report, but both are officially available. Curry is dealing with a right thumb splint, while Payton II is dealing with a left thumb splint.More NBA news: Former NBA First Round Pick Announces Sudden Retirement From BasketballCurry is the big name to keep an eye on. He was huge for the Warriors in Game 1, putting up 31 points in 40 minutes. He seems fine, but it is still interesting to keep an eye on him to see how his shooting-hand thumb is holding up.The Warriors entered the playoffs as the seventh seed after beating the Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in tournament. After the Warriors won by double digits and the Grizzlies went down 2-0 to the Oklahoma City Thunder, including a 51-point loss in Game 1, it seems the Warriors lucked out big time by winning that game.Due to the acquisition of Jimmy Butler and the overall experience of the roster, the Warriors were a popular pick to not only upset the Rockets in this series but also potentially make a run to the NBA finals and represent the Western Conference.If the Warriors win this series, their next opponent would either be the Los Angeles Lakers or the Minnesota Timberwolves. Given the bracket is fixed and not reseeded, the Warriors won't have to face the juggernaut Thunder until the Western Conference finals.For the Warriors to have any chance of making noise in this year's playoffs, they will need Curry to be fully healthy and playing at a high level. Despite being now 37 years old, he is one of the best players in the NBA still, and will be the driving force behind any title run.More NBA news: NBA Reacts to Warriors HC Steve Kerr's Historical MilestoneWith Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green each being 35 years old, the Warriors' roster as a whole will need to hope they can last long enough in the playoffs while healthy.If the Warriors do manage to stay healthy and make it far in the playoffs, it will be extra impressive given to age of their top players combined with being the seventh seed.For now, the Warriors will have to focus on staying healthy in the present to overcome a young and hungry Rockets squad.For more NBA news and rumors, stay tuned to Newsweek Sports.
