Watch: Anshul Kamboj's Fired-Up Celebration For Maiden Test Wicket
@Source: news18.com
India’s latest debutant, Anshul Kamboj, was all fired up, and deservedly so, after taking the huge wicket of England opener Ben Duckett in the Old Trafford Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy on Thursday (July 24). The right-arm pacer from Haryana got the memorable maiden wicket in his second spell of the innings. He was looking in good rhythm, offering a good wrist and seam position. On the first ball of the 39th over, he hurled it on a good length and wide and Duckett, a master of the cut shot, tried to nail it past the off-side. However, the excellent seam position and the snap of the wrists meant the ball reared off the pitch with extra bounce. It kissed the top edge, and substitute fielder Dhruv Jurel didn’t make any mistake. Duckett had to go for 94 (100), just six runs short of a good century and he could barely believe it. Kamboj, on the other hand, roared in delight before being engulfed by his equally pleased teammates. Watch the wicket here: #AnshulKamboj, welcome to Test cricket! Anshul Kamboj’s wicket would lift India’s spirits It was a pivotal wicket for the visitors. They had conceded a 166-run opening stand, which had to be broken by Ravindra Jadeja after struggling initial spells from pace leaders Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, plus all-rounder Shardul Thakur. Still, Duckett was batting at a great strike-rate and putting India under pressure with his superb technique against spin. Kamboj, who replaced the in-form but injured Akash Deep in this Test, would give the team and captain Shubman Gill crucial confidence to bowl this English team out. India would need Kamboj to bowl more relentless spells on an Old Trafford wicket that has been as flat as a highway since the start of the second day. India would also hope for at least one more wicket to find some sort of balance in the Test.
