Before he could dazzle the fans at the US Open 2025, Carlos Alcaraz has managed to leave quite an impression. The Spanish tennis superstar had debuted a new stunning hairdo which has shocked fellow athletes and fans alike. Alcaraz, vying for his sixth Grand Slam title, has shaved his head and American tennis star Frances Tiafoe immediately branded it as terrible. “It’s horrible. It’s terrible. It’s definitely terrible. That’s my guy, though,” Tiafoe reacted after seeing Alcaraz’s new haircut. “Funny, I looked at him, and I was like, ‘I guess you’re aerodynamic.'” Tiafoe comes off court and gets his first look at the new cut for Carlos ? pic.twitter.com/fxPCggV5Zz — US Open Tennis (@usopen) August 25, 2025 “I don’t know who told him to do that, but it’s terrible. From a guy who gets haircuts week in, week out, who prides himself on good haircuts, it’s horrendous. But at the end of the day, it’s Carlos, and that’s my guy,” he added. In another video, golf superstar Rory McIlroy was curious as he touched Alcaraz’s shaved head before enquiring, ‘Why this?’ Alcaraz explains the new haircut to Rory McIlroy. pic.twitter.com/60qA5hPOuD — José Morgado (@josemorgado) August 25, 2025 Alcaraz laughed and explained, “Just got a haircut that I struggled with. I mean, I had to start fresh.” “Yeah, good. I like it. It’s good. I like it,” replied McIlroy. Alcaraz last won the US Open men’s singles title in 2022 and made it to the semifinals the next year. However, in 2024, he made a stunning second round exit with his rival Jannik Sinner clinching the title. The 22-year-old made it to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open at the start of 2025 before winning the French Open. Alcaraz also made it to the final of the Wimbledon Championships where he lost to Sinner. He recently teamed up with former US Open women’s singles champion Emma Raducanu for the US Open mixed doubles competition where the pair exited in the opening round.
