Cricket in India is more than just a sport. It is both a fervent devotion and a grand celebration. Given their 18 years of wait came to fruition, it was no surprise celebrations erupted across India after Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifted their first first-ever IPL trophy. They defeated Punjab Kings by 6 runs. People rejoiced seeing the team lift the IPL trophy and got emotional watching Virat Kohli tear up after the win. Social media is flooded with celebratory videos, but one video in particular is catching people’s attention. Why? Because a couple paused their wedding and, along with the guests, turned their attention to a large screen showing the final moments of the match. Some, including the groom, huddled near the screen in anticipation. Moments later, the room erupted in cheers, chanting ‘RCB, RCB’ as the team clinched their maiden IPL title. The user said they were at a wedding in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi (earlier Gulbarga) where people paused the ceremony to watch the finishing moment of RCB winning the finals. Many people responding to the tweet said it was ‘crazy’ that a wedding was paused for the IPL finale. One user said the video had to be ‘the best’ from the match. “God bless the newlyweds,” they added. Another wrote, “What a day to get married!” The moment has since gone viral, with fans hailing it as the perfect symbol of RCB fandom. Several others shared similar moments from parties and gatherings, highlighting just how united the country was in celebrating RCB’s victory. RCB won the match defeating Punjab Kings by 6 runs as Krunal Pandya was adjudged the Player of The Match.
