@Source: news18.com
Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni played a superb knock against the Lucknow Super Giants, helping his side register their second win of IPL 2025 season. For his performance, the 43-year-old won player-of-the-match award. Ahead of the start of the contest at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Dhoni was spotted taking a keen interest in a robotic camera dog, an innovative addition to the IPL this season. During his warm-up session, the former India captain inspected the gadget closely before tipping it over. 🤣🤣? pic.twitter.com/eGO5vemXUi — Bhuvan 🦁 (@bhuvanChari007) April 14, 2025 As the robot dog casually strolled towards the wicketkeeper-batter, he picked it up and laid it on the ground leaving it stuck. As Dhoni slowly walked away, a technical staff member quickly attended to the robot canine. Dhoni recently took up the reins of CSK, making him the oldest captain in IPL history. The captaincy shift came after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the campaign due to an elbow fracture. Dhoni’s first game as captain this season didn’t pan out well for the five-time IPL champions as they suffered a crushing eight-wicket defeat to reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders. The Dhoni-led side bounced back in Lucknow, courtesy of Dhoni’s 11-ball 26*. He hit four fours and one six in the game. Dhoni though wondered why he was picked for the player-of-the-match award. Speaking after the game, Dhoni claimed Noor Ahmad was more deserving of this award. “Even today I was like, ‘Why are they giving me the award?’ I feel Noor bowled really well. With the new ball and when Noor and Jaddu bowled four-five overs together – these were the two phases where we did really well,” Dhoni said. The CSK skipper was later informed he last won the Player of the Match award in 2019. The trivia caught the wicketkeeper by surprise. “That’s long time back,” he replied. Despite securing a win in Lucknow, the Chennai Super Kings still sit at the bottom with four points. They will next be in action against the Mumbai Indians on Sunday, April 20.
