Shubman Gill was batting on 98 runs from 139 balls when he scored a boundary on the second ball of the 75th over of India’s first innings bowled by Josh Tongue to complete his century. The century on Friday (June 20) against England in Leeds was a special one for Gill, as it helped him become the fifth Indian cricketer to score a century in the first Test as captain.
Gill was officially appointed as India’s Test captain on May 24, 2025, but he played his first Test as India’s captain on Friday and in the third session of opening day’s play crossed the 100-run mark in style.
After completing his century, Gill celebrated in an aggressive manner, and the clip of his pumped-up celebration is now going viral on the internet.
