Five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners Mumbai Indians (MI) are sweating it out ahead of the new season. The Men in Blue and Gold will kick off their campaign with their blockbuster encounter against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. It is to be noted that MI haven"t won an opening encounter in the league since the 2012 season. Advertisment Karnataka"s wicketkeeper and batter Krishnan Sirjith who was signed during the auction pulled off a stunning catch. Mumbai Indians" social media team uploaded a short video where Robin Minz could be seen batting. The 28-year-old showed great presence of mind and skills behind the stumps to throw his hands-up for selection for the opening game of the season on Sunday. Who is Mumbai Indians star Krishnan Sirjith? Born on August 12th, 1996 young wicketkeeper batter Krishan Lakshmanan Srijith plays his domestic cricket for Karnataka. The left-handed batter and stumper made his T20 debut for Karnataka in early 2021 against Jammu and Kashmir where he scored an unbeaten 48 off 31 balls with one four and three sixes. Srijith also stumped former India player Parvez Rasool during the game. In the next few years, Srijith also made his List A debut in 2023 and Ranji Trophy debut in 2024. The left-handed batter is known to be a powerful striker of the ball and has scored 393 runs from 17 matches with a strike-rate of 146 with two half-centuries. As a wicketkeeper KL Srijith is considered safe and has the knack of pulling off amazing catches. Mumbai Indians picked up the youngster Karnataka for INR 30 Lakhs during the IPL 2025 auctions. The 28-year-old will be competing with Ryan Rickelton and Robin Minz for the wicketkeeping slot in the team. Interestingly, both Rickelton and Minz are also left-handed batters like Srijith. The video posted by Mumbai Indians shows the amazing talent the youngster has and could pull his name up for selection during the season.
