Watch: Will Digvesh Rathi Do Notebook Celebration Vs Virat Kohli? Spinner Reacts
@Source: news18.com
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner Digvesh Rathi doesn’t seem too keen to bring out his famous notebook celebration against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and India superstar Virat Kohli. Ahead of the teams’ match at the Ekana Stadium on Tuesday, Digvesh was interacting with some of LSG’s fans. Naturally, the topic of his celebrations — which have got him in a lot of trouble — came up, and the public asked if Kohli was the ‘next’ in line to be on the receiving end. To this, Rathi quietly shook his head and offered a smile. He did it once again in the following game and earned several demerit points, before altering it to be away from the batter’s face and doing it on the ground instead. Recently, he got into a heated argument with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma, which got him more demerit points — all accumulating into a one-match suspension. He served in the game against the Gujarat Titans. He was also fined 50 per cent of his match fee. Digvesh will go up against Kohli for the first time in his career because this is the maiden match between LSG and RCB this season. Kohli has shown the tendency to get out to mystery spinners and bowlers he hasn’t faced before so the LSG man will have a good chance to get one on him. However, a reason why the LSG fans brought up Kohli’s name could be because the notebook celebration resonates with him as it does with Digvesh. In 2017, West Indies pacer Kesrick Williams did the celebration against Kohli, and the batter gave it back to him two years later during a T20I series during his stellar knock of 94 off 50. “Virat Kohli is the first person I did that notebook celebration on in Jamaica. When I did the notebook celebration, I did it because I liked it and I did it for my fans. But Kohli didn’t see it that way,” Williams said in a video interview uploaded on the International Cricket Network 360 YouTube channel in 2020.
