Mumbai water supply: Several areas in Central Mumbai and the easters suburbs of the city will face water supply disruption for the next 24 hours owing to a pipeline being damaged, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced on Saturday. According to the civic body, a 1200 mm diameter water pipeline was damaged during ongoing metro construction work at Amar Mahal Junction. As part of this operation, the adjoining 1800 mm major water main at the same location will be temporarily shut down. Water supply to be shut down for 24 hours for repairs. Water supply to be shut down in some areas of M East, M West, N, L, F North divisions. F Water supply partially cut off in some areas of southern region,” the BMC said in a post on X. “To prevent any further loss of water, the entire water supply has been shut down and will remain non-operational for the next 24 hours till April 19,” an official said, while the BMC urged citizens to use water cautiously. Areas To Be Affected Full Water Supply Shutdown: M West Ward: Chembur, Swastik Park, Ghatla, Mahul, Union Park, Suman Nagar, Saibaba Nagar, Charai Village, Golf Club, and surrounding localities. M East Ward: Govandi, Deonar, Mankhurd, Trombay, Lallubhai Compound, Shivaji Nagar, Bainganwadi, and Mandala. N Ward: Ghatkopar East, Pantnagar, Rajawadi, Garodia Nagar, Naidu Colony, Chirag Nagar, and adjoining localities in Ghatkopar West. L Ward: Tilak Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Chunabhatti, Kurla East, Rahul Nagar, Sable Nagar, and nearby areas. F North Ward: Matunga (East), Dadar (East), Wadala, Pratiksha Nagar, Truck Terminal, New Cuffe Parade, and Shiv Koliwada. Partial Water Supply Shutdown: F South Ward: Parts of Parel, Sewri, Kalewadi, Naigaon, and hospital zones including KEM, Tata, and Wadia hospitals. Areas such as Mint Colony, Lalbaug, Hindmata, and Abhyudaya Nagar will also see partial disruptions. Water Supply Affected in Thane Meanwhile, residents in Thane also experienced water supply disruptions. The Shahad Temghar Water Supply Authority (STEM), which supplies water to Thane, developed a leakage in the pipeline around 12:30 pm on Friday, April 18. Due to this, the water supply pressure was low.
