'We Know The Amount Of Games We Need To Win...': Heinrich Klaasen Positive About SRH's Playoffs Chances

With just two wins from eight matches played so far, Sunrisers Hyderabad sit at 9th position in the IPL 2025 points table, but their star wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen is hopeful about qualification for the playoffs. According to the 33-year-old South African cricketer, who was retained for Rs 23 crore by the Hyderabad-based franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auctions, his teammates know how many more matches his team needs to win to finish in the top four and progress to the next round.
Speaking in a video shared by Star Sports on X, the right-handed batter, who is SRH’s leading run getter in the IPL so far this year, said, “We want to play a certain brand, and we are sticking to that brand of cricket, and we do understand that we might have games that it doesn’t go according to plan, but we know the amount of games that we need to win to get into the playoffs, and we’re happy with where we are now, and like I said, it’s just about fine-tuning it a little bit and making sure that we can be a little bit more consistent.”

SRH will face five-time champions Chennai Super Kings in their ninth league match on Friday (April 25). The match between the two former champions is scheduled to take place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. If SRH suffer a defeat against CSK, then their chances of qualifying for the playoffs will get all but over because, in that case, Pat Cummins’ men will only reach a maximum of 14 points,, and this year 14 points might not prove enough to finish in the top four and qualify for the playoffs.
400th T20 match for MSD
The match between CSK and SRH in Chennai on Friday will be Dhoni’s 400th T20 match. He will become only the third Indian cricketer after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to play 400 or more matches in the shortest format of the game. Since making his T20 debut for India against South Africa in Johannesburg on December 1, 2006, Dhoni has scored 7566 runs in 350 innings of 399 T20 matches. Dhoni has played 266 T20 matches for CSK so far since joining the franchise in the 2008 mega auction. He is the most capped player in IPL history and was also reappointed as CSK captain on April 10, 2025.
