Mikel Arteta has expressed his disappointment with Arsenal's performance this season, stating that the team has regressed. The failure to secure any silverware in the past five seasons has ignited considerable anxiety and frustration among Arsenal supporters. What Arteta said Speaking ahead of their trip to Anfield to face the Premier League winners Liverpool, Arteta has reflected on Arsenal’s season. According to the Mirror, Arteta said, “In the Premier League, we've gone a step backwards. With the points that we have created, it's clear that we haven't done as good as last season, that's obvious. “Yeah, for sure in the Champions League we have because we've done better than last season, but not what we want because we want to win it. “For sure, it has hurt; if it doesn’t hurt, then it means you don’t love winning as much as I do, that’s for sure. But you need to understand, as well, certain things that happened to understand. “It was impossible to try to aim to get the same kind of points, but what we did was to overperform when we could do so. There are a lot of ways to look at it. When I sit down, have a look back and make a much better reflection of that.” The Gunners have surprisingly lost points from winning positions ten times this season and failed to secure a win in 17 of their 35 matches. Arsenal's recent form is far from title-winning, and Arteta remains frustrated by the key factors he believes led to them falling short this season.
