Batting superstar Virat Kohli is on fire for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the ongoing 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League. The 36-year-old right-handed batter has scored three half-centuries in six matches played so far, and with 248 runs to his credit, he is the leading run scorer for the Rajat Patidar-led side this year. Kohli remained unbeaten on 62 runs from 45 balls in RCB’s last match against Rajasthan Royals, which they won by 9 wickets at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday (April 13).
RCB’s superb performances in the IPL this year have made a big section of fans believe that this year the team will finally end their long wait for their first-ever IPL title, and they have started to make connections between Kohli’s iconic No. 18 jersey and the 18th edition of the IPL.
During a recent interaction with Mr Nags on RCB Insider, the video of which was shared by the franchise on X, when Kohli was asked about his views on fans’ No. 18 theory, he trolled the RCB supporters.
According to him, “Were you (fan’s) not feeling it till now? It took 18 years to feel it. What about 17, 16, 19?”

However, he stated that, “I think it’s a good reason to be in a good space and be positive.”
Kohli creates history
Kohli, who was retained for Rs 21 crore by RCB ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, is the all-time leading run scorer in the history of the world’s richest franchise cricket league. During his team’s last match against RR, Kohli entered his name in the history books by becoming only the second cricketer to score 100 half-centuries in T20s. Apart from Kohli, former Australian opening batter David Warner has scored 100 half-centuries in the 20-over format of the game.
RCB to face PBKS next
RCB will face Punjab Kings in their seventh league match of IPL 2025 on Friday (April 18). The match between the two teams is scheduled to take place at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. RCB have suffered defeat in both the IPL 2025 matches played so far at the iconic stadium.
