West Ham: Vladimir Coufal reveals 'great' Fulham offer and addresses Everton transfer links

West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal has opened up on transfer interest from Everton and revealed details of how Fulham tried to sign him while he was playing on deadline day.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka's impressive start to life at West Ham since joining from Manchester United last summer has limited Coufal’s game time this season. He has made just eight Premier League starts so far.
Fulham tried desperately to sign a new right-back on deadline day last month to cover the injury to Kenny Tete, but their attempts to secure Coufal were complicated by the fact that he played 72 minutes in a 2-1 defeat by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
“I’m torn about all this because West Ham didn’t let me go to Fulham on deadline day. I guess not many people know about this,” he said in an interview with the Czech daily newspaper Mladá fronta Dnes, as reported by Sport Witness.
“In the dressing room after the match [against Chelsea], I look at my phone and there are four missed calls from my agent. Plus, a message: ‘Call me immediately’.”
The 32-year-old Czech international revealed: “Fulham offered great conditions. Karol [Kisel, Coufal's agent] asked: ‘Would you like it?’ I said: ‘Why not, if there’s no use at West Ham’.”
The Hammers were not willing to sanction his exit, though, which Coufal appeared to suggest had left him frustrated.
“I’ll be 33 and it made sense to me [to move], although I love West Ham and could imagine finishing my career there,” he said.
“As for Fulham, I would stay in the Premier League and even in London. We really like it there. My son has started playing in the West Ham academy and is doing better than I expected.
“My daughter will be going to school next year. How do I explain to them that we are moving to a completely different place? That is why I need to hear from West Ham so that I can consider what to do next.”
Coufal - whose current contract at the London Stadium expires at the end of the season - has been linked with Everton of late, where his former West Ham manager David Moyes is now the head coach.
“When I am free, anything can happen,” he said of a potential summer move to Merseyside.
