What Andre Onana has said about his Manchester United future amid Monaco transfer links
@Source: manchestereveningnews.co.uk
Andre Onana has refused to rule out the prospect of leaving Manchester United this summer amid fresh speculation linking him with a move to French club AS Monaco. According to a report by Sky in Italy, as relayed by Sky Sports , the Ligue 1 club are 'interested' in signing the Cameroon international. The report states they are 'understood to be exploring the conditions' of a move for his signature. As reported by the Manchester Evening News last month, United are open to selling any player this summer, meaning Onana is not immune from being pointed in the direction of the exit. He has committed several high-profile errors since arriving from Inter Milan in July 2023 and head coach Ruben Amorim is understood to be targeting a new goalkeeper in this summer's transfer window to challenge the 29-year-old for the No.1 spot. Onana was taken out of the firing line on a couple of occasions last season, most notably after he committed a late error in United's 2-2 draw with Lyon in the first leg of their thrilling Europa League quarter-final in April. Altay Bayindir replaced him for the 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United three days later. Onana, last week, was asked about his future and he admitted that he doesn't know what will happen this summer. Asked if he might leave Old Trafford this summer, Onana, who answered the question in French, said: "Will I leave? I don't know, we'll see." The Cameroonian, who won the FA Cup in his first season at Old Trafford, has made 101 appearances for the Reds since arriving in M16 almost two years ago. However, he has kept just 24 clean sheets. United have made just one decision in the senior goalkeeping department so far this summer, handing a new one-year deal to experienced goalkeeper Tom Heaton. Bayindir, however, could be sold.
