@Source: news18.com
Following Mumbai Indians’ opening win of the Indian Premier League 2025, Nita Ambani was present to congratulate the team’s scouts who played a key role in bringing out the best from their uncapped stars who proved to be the difference.
In the first game against Chennai Super Kings, it was Vignesh Puthur from Kerala who took the spotlight by finishing with figures of 3/32 at the Chepauk Stadium. This was then followed up by Ashwani Kumar, the left-arm pacer from Mohali, who finished with 4/24 in three overs against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium.
Mrs. Ambani honoured MI’s scouts after the match and recognised their efforts, saying, “I just want to congratulate everyone. This is what the Mumbai Indians are known for. I think today I also want to take this opportunity to thank the scouts of the Mumbai Indians. They have worked very hard. Rahul (Sanghvi, Director of Cricket) is in the corner. DJ (Dhananjai CKM, Chief Data Performance Manager) with all his stats and the entire scouting team. We have youngsters like Ashwani (Kumar), Vignesh (Puthur) in our team, Robin (Minz), so many of them, and I think we need to thank them also. So let’s give a big round of applause to all our scouts.”

While Mumbai were unable to beat CSK, they went on to beat KKR in their first game at home, that too in dominant fashion. Ashwani’s four-fer alongside stellar powerplay displays by Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar ensured that KKR were unable to register a big enough score.
Ryan Rickelton smashed his maiden IPL fifty while Suryakumar Yadav’s quick cameo ensured that Mumbai took the win with over seven overs left to spare, which boosted their net run-rate.
Mumbai Indians will be back in action for their third game, which is an away game against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 4, 2025 (Friday).
