Adolescence Netflix, streaming now
It’s every parent’s worst nightmare — the murder of a child. What about being the parent of the child accused of said murder? As far as you’re aware, you’ve been raising your kid to be a moral person who’d never resort to murdering a female classmate. This is the plight of Stephen Graham’s Eddie. One morning, he wakes to the police storming his home to haul his innocuous-looking 13-year-old, Jamie (Owen Cooper), to the station. It’s up to Eddie, Jamie’s assigned therapist (Erin Doherty), and a detective (Ashley Walters) to figure out what happened. In short, the internet happened. Finally, a series tackling the toxicity of the online manosphere, where young boys are taught that “80pc of women are attracted to 20pc of men, so you must trick them ’cause you’ll never get them in the normal way...” Each episode is filmed in one shot, so the horror unfolds in real time — much like Andrew Tate being welcomed back into the States in late February.
