When Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha could make Manchester United debuts amid transfer splurge
@Source: manchestereveningnews.co.uk
Manchester United have shot out of the blocks at the start of the summer transfer window. The Reds have agreed a £62.5million move for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha having activated his release clause. His arrival will be rubber stamped when he returns from international duty with Brazil. And United have also opened talks with Brentford over a move for Bryan Mbeumo in what would be a statement signing. The 25-year-old is understood to be keen on moving to Old Trafford and while the Bees will drive a hard bargain over the fee, a deal seems likely to be made. That would represent a stellar start to the window for Ruben Amorim and Co with United also boosted by the news that captain Bruno Fernandes has spurned the riches on offer from a potential £100million move to Saudi Arabia to remain in Manchester. The Reds will likely seek further additions, with a striker on the shortlist while goalkeeper and full back could also be strengthened but any further moves are likely to depend on player sales. Alejandro Garnacho is set to leave while United will try and conclude exits for the unwanted Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho. Cunha and Mbeumo will be two exciting additions, with the duo looking tailor made for the two number 10 positions in Amorim’s favoured 3-4-2-1 system. Fans won’t have too long to wait to see the pair in action for United should the deals be concluded with the Reds beginning their pre season fixtures in just over a month. United will head to America this summer for three fixtures with games against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton on the agenda. But before then they will face Premier League new boys Leeds United in Sweden on Saturday, July 19 with a 2pm kick off. That fixture takes place in Stockholm and will be the first opportunity for any summer signings to take to the to pitch for the first time as United players. United have only one fixture on home soil this pre season with a match against Serie A side Fiorentina at Old Trafford on Saturday, August 9, which would be the first available fixture for any new recruits to play in front of home fans. --- Here at the Manchester Evening News, we’re dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.
