The 2025 National Women’s Soccer League season is underway. On Saturday afternoon, two clubs hopeful to get off to a good start meet as the KC Current hosts the Portland Thorns. However, with the likes of Temwa Chawinga returning to the fold, KC is going to be a force once again. Vlaktko Andonovski’s side is being bolstered on the back end with Brazilian goalkeeper getting signed from Gremio during the offseason. The Thorns enter 2025 after falling in the quarterfinals last fall to Gotham FC. However, things are going to be even tougher for Portland to get back to the postseason with star striker Sophia Wilson will miss the entire season as she is expecting, and the team is going to be missing a few other notable players with injuries as well.
