@Source: nj.com
The 2025 New Jersey high school boys tennis season is already wrapping up as the NJSIAA state tournaments are set to begin next week. And while even elite teams have fallen this spring, there are 14 squads still without a loss. See who each of the teams are below. Note, records are through Wednesday, May 14. Newark Academy (17-0) Newark Academy picked up five wins, including three against ranked opponents in the Newark Academy Invitational. After a 5-0 win against Montclair, the Minutemen took down formerly undefeated (No. 16) Christian Brothers, (No. 13) East Brunswick and (No. 6) Delbarton all by a 4-1 margin. Newark Academy most recently topped (No. 14) Montclair Kimberley, 4-1, and has one last meeting with (No. 11) Millburn before its regular season concludes. While winning steadily in almost every flight, second-singles have dropped in the last three matches for the Minutemen. West Windsor-Plainsboro South (17-0) West Windsor-Plainsboro South remains the top-ranked boys tennis program in the state and has picked up four more wins since April concluded. The Pirates have won three of its last four matches 5-0, with the win over Allentown coming in a 4.5-0.5 fashion. Against Ewing, each flight only dropped one set only to emerge victorious. Doubles Rishabh Shekdar/ Rohit Datta and Advaith Praveen/ Stephen Deng were both perfect in the win against Allentown, with second-singles Richard Hao tying with Aryan Khanna. WWPS was immaculate against Notre Dame and also took the win over Robbinsville. In Robbinsville, first-singles Prahalad Dharma too the match 6-2, 6-4 against Aritro Ganguly. Haddon Township (15-0) Haddon Township tallied three more wins since the end of April, seeing victories against Seneca, Gateway and Kingsway. The Hawks downed both Seneca and Kingsway, 4-1, and swept Gateway, 5-0. Alexander Noone won in a tiebreaker at first-singles against Benjamin Epps of Seneca while Christopher Webb downed Colin Engelbert of Haddon Township, 6-2, 7-5. First and second-singles swept Gateway while James Arizzi and Max Radley took the win over Ben Cline and Alvaro Sanchis-Moraleja 6-2, 6-2. Versus Kingsway, William Currier dropped the only match for Haddon Township in third-singles to Nate Brandley. Engelbert took a tight win against Kingway’s Aidan Shoemaker in second-singles. Pennsville (15-0) Pennsville recorded four wins since the end of April with wins over Kingsway, Vineland, Gloucester Tech and Schalick. Against Kingsway and Schalick, only in the first-doubles flight did Pennsville not record a victory as the Eagles won those matches, 4-1. With a 5-0 sweep against Gloucester Tech, Pennsville’s toughest matchup came against Vineland, which was decided in a 3-2 win for Pennsville. Gabe Schneider and Maddox Efelis took decisive wins in first and second-singles respectively, while third singles and second-doubles were each decided in a tiebreaker with both wins going to Vineland. Pennsville has four more matches left on its schedule, with two coming against Penns Grove. Marlboro (12-0) Marlboro picked up a win over Freehold Borough before beginning its competition in the Shore Conference Tournament, where it has already seen wins against Point Pleasant Boro, Colts Neck and Manalapan. In those three victories, in which Marlboro won 5-0, Sourish Gadhi has been near-perfect. Even at second-singles, where Kanata Sasaki and Tyler Leung have subbed for one another, Marlboro has found consistent and dominant play from both players. Manalapan takes on Christian Brothers in the Shore final on Thursday. Piscataway (12-0) With its new home in the Blue Division, Piscataway continues to thrive, extending its perfect season to a 12-0 record and 10-0 against divisional rivals. Its 5-0 winning streak was snapped against Highland Park, where Piscataway took a 4-1 win for the first time since April 3 against South Plainfield. Against Highland Park, Eric Lindsay and Dev Ranipa each took tiebreaker wins at first-singles and first doubles, respectively. Kittatinny (11-0) Kittatinny continues to roll as it racked up three more wins to start the month of May. With back-to-back 4-1 victories against Newton and Vernon, Kittatinny took a 5-0 win over Hopatcong. Gabe Davis at third-singles continues to impress and remains perfect in the flight. Both first and second-doubles for Kittatinny have also been steady, as Tyler Current/Zeke Osoris and Chase Freeman/Ben Ryan continue their spot-on play. Lenape (11-0) Lenape moved down to No. 20 despite three-consecutive 5-0 wins over Paul VI, Shawnee and Northern Burlington, while earning a 4-1 win against Cherokee. Tevin Pham has held his own at third-singles in wins over Paul VI, Northern Burlington and Cherokee. In its matchup against Shawnee, each flight for Lenape battled against the Renegades. Blair (10-0) Blair earned a very impressive win over (No. 6) Delbarton on Monday to continue its perfect season. Earlier in may, Blair earned wins over Lawrenceville and Hill (PA). Against Delbarton, Andy Lee and Gio Choi in first and third-singles battled and downed Brayden Bonetti and Hugh Weldon, while Zijian yu/Taylor Wu won over Alex Choi and Dylan Scarpati in second-doubles. Metuchen (10-0) There are two undefeated teams still in Metuchen. The Bulldogs racked up three more wins against Colonia, Highland Park and Wardlaw-Hartridge, with the latter giving it some stiff competition. After back-to-back 5-0 wins, Metuchen took the win over Wardlaw-Hartridge, 3-2, and its first 3-2 win since April 24 against Sayreville. In the Wardlaw-Hartridge match, Grayson Kahng and Jonathan Chen took wins at first and third-singles while Patrick Turc/Jeremy Mark took a key win at second-doubles. Ridgewood (10-0) Ridgewood has moved back up to No. 4 in the state with key wins over Paramus and Hackensack to begin its month of play in May. Each win was a 5-0 victory and collectively, its first, second and third singles have lost just four sets in those wins. Ridgewood will play Ramapo in its home finale before heading to Northern Highlands and (No. 19) Tenafly to close its regular season. St. Joseph (Met.) (10-0) St. Joseph added three more wins, just like its Metuchen counterpart, against Iselin-Kennedy, Colonia and Old Bridge. Daniel Diaz and Giovanni Fighera have both remained solid for the Falcons at first and second-singles. It will be interesting to see St. Joseph and Metuchen square off in their season finale on Thursday and see who remains the lone perfect team in Metuchen. Tenafly (10-0) Tenafly bounced back into the NJ.com Top 20 after wins over Teaneck and back-to-back wins against Old Tappan. Both first and second doubles were great against Old Tappan, earning key wins for the Tigers. Ari Reitman/Christopher Jang and Gregory Michaels/Christopher Oh came to play and toughed out wins for Tenafly. Plainfield (7-0) Plainfield took two wins, including a divisional win, to begin its May competition. Against Linden, its Valley Division rival, Raphael Simon had one of his best matches this season at third-singles, while Jonathan Garcia/ Christian Moreno also impressed at first-doubles.
