Which Team Will Win IPL 2025 Trophy If RCB Vs PBKS Final Is Washed Out?
@Source: news18.com
Rajat Patidar-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face Shreyas Iyer’s Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final on Tuesday, June 3. The summit clash of the 18th edition of the world’s richest franchise cricket league is scheduled to take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both RCB and PBKS have featured in all 18 editions of the IPL so far but never managed to win the title. But on Tuesday, one of them will definitely lift the trophy.
RCB qualified for the IPL 2025 final after securing a big win by 8 wickets over Punjab Kings in the Qualifier 1 played in Mullanpur on Thursday (May 29), whereas PBKS set up the date with destiny by getting the better of Mumbai Indians by 5 wickets in the Qualifier 2 match in Ahmedabad on Sunday, June 1.
In this year’s IPL, PBKS and RCB have faced each other three times. PBKS won the first game in Bengaluru on April 18 by five wickets, whereas Rajat Patidar’s men emerged victorious twice (1st by 7 wickets on April 20 and 2nd time by 8 wickets on May 29) in Mullanpur.
While RCB will be eager to complete the hat-trick of wins and bag the title on Tuesday, PBKS will aim to settle the scores at the world’s largest cricket stadium.
PBKS have won both their IPL 2025 matches played at Narendra Modi Stadium, and on Tuesday once again, Iyer would like to lead the show.
PBKS’ Qualifier 2 match against Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad was hampered by rain on Sunday (June 1), and it got underway after a 135-minute delay, and there is a possibility of rain playing spoilsport on Tuesday as well.
What Happens If RCB Vs PBKS IPL 2025 Final Gets Washed Out?
If the IPL 2025 final between RCB and PBKS in Ahmedabad on Tuesday gets washed out due to rain, then the match will be played on Wednesday (June 4) as there is a reserve day in place for the title decider. If due to rain, no action is possible on Wednesday as well, then according to IPL 2025 match playing conditions, the following shall apply:
16.11.1 The relevant teams shall compete in a Super Over and, if necessary, further Super Overs to determine which team is the winner of the match in question; and
16.11.2 If conditions do not permit a Super Over or subsequent Super Overs within the time available to determine the winner as described in Appendix F, then the team which, at the end of the relevant regular season, finished in the higher position in the league table (in accordance with clause 16.10) will be deemed the winner of the relevant play-off match.
In the league stage of IPL 2025, Punjab Kings and RCB both finished with 19 points each (9 wins and 1 draw), but due to a better Net Run Rate (NRR), PBKS (+0.372) topped the points table, and RCB (+0.301) finished second. So if no play is possible at all on both days, then PBKS will be declared the winner of IPL 2025.
