Arik Armstead and his wife Mindy are the proud parents of three children. The Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end and his wife wed in June 2020 and have two daughters — Amiri, born in February 2021, and Ayla, born in June 2022. On March 31, 2025, the couple welcomed their third child together, a son named Audemar Kristian Armstead. "It feels good," Arik told PEOPLE of becoming a first-time boy dad. "Having a boy and a new experience and all the newness that comes with it, I feel like it was a good experience for us and it's something that we're going through together as a family." In addition to being a mom of three, Mindy is a psychiatrist and, like her husband, is dedicated to giving back to her community. The couple co-founded the Armstead Academic Project in 2019, a nonprofit organization that provides academic support to students in Sacramento, Calif., the San Francisco Bay Area and Jacksonville, Fla. "It’s amazing to form an alliance with your life partner, and not only support each other, but also to help people," Arik told The Players’ Tribune in 2020. Mindy supports her husband both on and off the field, regularly sharing Instagram photos from their nonprofit work, NFL games and European trips. She also loves to shout out her husband online. "Thank you for being the best husband, best friend, and dada. The girls are so lucky to have such an amazing role model and protector,” Mindy wrote on Instagram in honor of Arik’s birthday in November 2022. So, who is Mindy Armstead? Here's everything to know about the Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end’s wife. She’s from New York Melinda “Mindy” Armstead (neé Harwood) was born in September 1988 to Gary and Melody Harwood and raised in Hornell, N.Y., according to her college athlete bio. She graduated from Arkport High School, where she played soccer (coached by her mom!), participated in track and was named a student of the year. Mindy comes from a large family that includes sisters Megan, Morgan and Jordan, and brother Jeremy. "I'm one of five, he's one of four. I love my sisters, and I love being from a big family," Mindy told PEOPLE in November 2024. After high school, Mindy attended Daemen University in Western New York, where she continued to play soccer and earned her B.S. in community health with a minor in chemistry at age 20, per her website. She is a psychiatrist After graduating from Daemen, Mindy earned a dual master's degree in systems biology and interdisciplinary science from the University of Buffalo Medical School in 2017. She then completed a general psychiatry residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo before specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of California at Davis, according to her website. The double board-certified psychiatrist runs her own clinic, the Armstead Medical Group, for children, adolescents and adults. The group serves telehealth clients in California. She married Arik in June 2020 Arik and Mindy began dating in 2014, while Mindy was in medical school. “I was extremely attracted to her because of her ambition, and she [was more than] a beautiful, beautiful woman. She had a lot going for herself,” Arik told The Players’ Tribune in 2020. “I’ve learned so much about myself from Mindy.” Arik and Mindy got engaged on Feb. 19, 2019, and tied the knot on June 20, 2020. “Thank you for building this life with me,” Mindy wrote on Instagram on the couple’s second wedding anniversary in 2022. “Forever to go.” She’s a mom to three children The Armsteads are proud parents to three children, two girls and a boy. They welcomed their first child together, daughter Amiri, on Feb. 5, 2021, followed by daughter Ayla on June 7, 2022. “Daddy’s twin and mommy’s shadow,” Mindy wrote of Amiri on Instagram in honor of her older daughter’s 3rd birthday in 2024. In November 2024, the couple announced they were expecting their third child, a boy. Their son Audemar Kristian Armstead was born on March 31 at 2:22 a.m., weighing 10 lbs and 3 oz. at birth. His name has special significance: His first name, which means nobility and strength, was suggested by Arik's sister-in-law, while his middle name is the same as Arik’s. Amiri and Ayla have quickly adjusted to becoming big sisters. "The girls, as much as I'm trying to remind them they're not his parents, they're like, 'This is my baby and I want to rock him and I want to hold him. Give me my baby.' So, it's actually been really cute," Mindy told PEOPLE. "They [also] came and visited us at the hospital, which was new for me because both my daughters were COVID babies," she added. "They came to the hospital and Arik was holding the baby and they just were so excited and they ran right over to him and they were all trying to kiss him." She proudly supports her husband Mindy is a big supporter of her husband’s career. Arik was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round in 2015 and played with the NFL team for nine seasons before signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024. After the 49ers won the AFC Championship against the Detroit Lions in January 2024, Mindy congratulated her husband in an Instagram reel that featured a montage of herself and their kids on the field. “Watching @arikarmstead play in the Super Bowl vs the chiefs was cool as a fiancée but getting a rematch where my babies can cheer on their daddy with me… #iconic #superbowl #nfl #goniners,” she captioned the post. In February 2024, Mindy posted photos from the 2024 Super Bowl, where the 49ers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. “Not the ending we wanted but it does not take away from the amazing hard fought season that was had. ♥️,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a slideshow that included photos of Arik and their daughters on the field. Mindy was a familiar face at 49ers games and has now become a part of the Jaguars family. In September 2024, she rocked a necklace with Arik’s jersey number on it to a matchup against the Buffalo Bills; she also helped host the “Jag Wags holiday party” in December 2024. “Continuing to watch you perfect your craft while being an amazing husband, father, and community leader is an honor,” she wrote on Instagram in 2022. She’s joined Arik for red carpet events Mindy cheers for her husband off the field, too. The pair hit the red carpet for the annual NFL Honors events in Phoenix in 2023 and in New Orleans in 2025, with Arik proudly caressing Mindy’s pregnant belly at the latter. The couple also loves to get dressed up for fashion weeks, like a Louis Vuitton outing in Paris in 2024 and Gucci and Fendi events with Bloomingdales in Milan in 2025. “Forever his plus one 🖤,” Mindy captioned an Instagram photo from the couple’s trip to France. The Armsteads have traveled around the world, too, like a Mexican vacation in 2022 and a trip with their children to Morocco and Paris in 2023. Pre-parenthood, Arik and Mindy visited places like the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates. She and Arik started a non-profit together In 2019, Mindy and Arik founded a non-profit organization called the Armstead Academic Project. The company provides academic support to students in Sacramento, the San Francisco Bay Area and Jacksonville, Fla. Arik was inspired to start the project after having trouble learning how to read as a child, per ESPN. The pair have participated in charity events to support the organization, including a benefit at David Yurman in Santa Clarita, Calif., in 2023 and one with Christian Louboutin in 2022, among many others. “One thing about my husband… he will always be a blessing to those around him and will encourage others to do the same,” Mindy wrote on Instagram in 2022. “Excited to continue this journey and season of giving. We remain committed to positively impact youth lives by providing the resources, tools, and spaces they need to thrive.” Arik, who was previously a five-time nominee, was honored with the 2024 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, which is given to players for their excellence on and off the field. “Arik works tirelessly behind the scenes to make the world a better place. He doesn’t do it for the accolades but he sure does deserve them,” Mindy wrote on Instagram following the 2023 ceremony. She gives Arik shout-outs on social media Mindy shares many photos and videos on Instagram, giving fans a peek into her family’s life and her husband’s off-field activities. Some of those shout-outs include birthday tributes, like the one Mindy wrote to Arik in November 2024. “To many more birthdays, a lot more love and a lifetime of giving! Love celebrating you @arikarmstead hope your birthday was as amazing as you are ❤️❤️,” she captioned her Instagram post. And Arik is sure to return the favor on his page. “We are so grateful for you [Mindy]. You are the glue for our family,” the NFL pro captioned a photo of Mindy and their daughters on Mother’s Day 2024. “Thank you for sacrificing so much for us. Thank you for giving me the greatest gift in the world our 2 precious girls. We love you !”
