CHRIS Wakelin had to wait a decade after turning pro to win his first ranking event — the Shoot Out in 2023. The current world number 20 has qualified for the 2025 World Snooker Championship, and no doubt his girlfriend, Lucy, will be cheering him on when it kicks off on April 19, 2025. Who is Chris Wakelin's girlfriend Lucy? Chris Wakelin, who goes by the nickname "The Beast", is a professional snooker player from Rugby, Warwickshire. He is currently in a relationship with Lucy. Chris has described her as an incredible source of support and inspiration, providing him with confidence and the freedom to focus on his snooker career. He has openly expressed his gratitude for her presence in his life, crediting her for contributing to his recent successes both on and off the table. In November 2024, Chris said: “I just surround myself with amazingly positive and influential people who always support me and always have my back.” “I’m very blessed that Lucy came into my life. She’s incredible. She gives me so much confidence and belief and freedom to concentrate on snooker. “We are expecting our first child. It’s the most incredible time of our lives, it’s hard to put into words how things are going right now. “It feels like I’m living in a dream world right now. “When we found out we were expecting, my mum said: ‘You’ve just bought your first house, you have a baby on the way. Is the pressure not going to be too much?’ “I said: ‘This is what I need. Their baby was due in February 2025, but was born a month prematurely in January. Prior to qualifying for the 2025 Worlds, Chris said of Lucy and their baby: “The bottom line is that if I don’t get through, then I don’t really care. I’ve not had the best few months. "I’ve had a nervous start to becoming a dad. The results over the last couple of months haven’t gone my way, but I’m aware the reason for that is I have a family now. “It is absolutely magic being a dad. I never wanted children until I found out Lucy was pregnant. "As much as it was scary when she was born prematurely, I am really grateful to all the people who have reached out to me. "We are through the worst of it now, she is coming up to four months old and I’m looking forward to the future. “I want to win, but if I lose I can say to myself that I can win the next tournament and I go home to a loving and beautiful partner and a little baby girl who is doing amazingly. "The results aren’t as important anymore. I’ll try my absolute best, but the reality is I’m very lucky in my life with the people around me.”
