Who stays and who goes in Ruben Amorim and INEOS Manchester United rebuild
@Source: manchestereveningnews.co.uk
It looks set to be a busy transfer window for Manchester United and Ruben Amorim as they look to rebuild their squad in the hope of a better 2025/26 season.
It has been a campaign to forget for the club so far this season. They currently sit in 13th place in the Premier League table with not much hope of closing the gap on the European places.
Their only chance of playing European football again next season is through winning the Europa League. If they do so, then they will earn a place in the Champions League. In their way is French side Lyon in the quarter-final of the competition.
While it’s not been a season to remember. United have shown some shoots of hopes in recent weeks. They enter the international break off the back of a comfortable 3-0 win over relegation-threatened Leicester City, with Rasmus Hojlund ending his run without a goal.
Whatever happens between now and the end of the campaign, it’s set to be a big summer transfer window for the club. With that in mind, here’s a look at who could go and who could stay from the current squad.
Andre Onana
The goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia over the weekend, and United could decide to cash in. A sale would however mean that the club will need to bring in a replacement.
Tom Heaton (out of contract)
Victor Lindelof (out of contract)
Tyrell Malacia
Jonny Evans (out of contract)
Harry Amass (loan)
Having struggled for game time this season, a loan deal either to a lower Premier League side or a Championship side could be beneficial to the 18-year-old.
Mason Mount
Christian Eriksen (out of contract)
Marcus Rashford
A permanent move away from United looks likely, with him so far impressing on loan with Aston Villa.
The midfielder is out of contract in just over a year’s time, and this could be United’s last chance to get at least some money.
Toby Collyer (loan)
Like Amass, a loan would get him more valuable game time that he is not currently getting at United.
Jadon Sancho
Rasmus Hojlund
One player who United could potentially get a decent fee for. Selling him should however be dependent on another striker coming in.
Altay Bayindir
Noussair Mazraoui
Matthijs De Ligt
Harry Maguire
Just a matter of months ago, it was probably expected that Maguire would leave the club in the summer. However his recent performances before injury has shown what he brings to the squad.
Lisandro Martinez
Patrick Dorgu
Diogo Dalot
Ayden Heaven
Bruno Fernandes
Probably the most important player to United. They should build the team around him.
Manuel Ugarte
Kobbie Mainoo
Joshua Zirkzee
Alejandro Garnacho
He was linked with a move away from United in January, but is capable of moments of magic. Unless they can bring in a replacement, then he should remain at Old Trafford beyond the summer.
