Who will win Celebrity Traitors? Our top bets, ranked from doomed to most devious
@Source: standard.co.uk
Faster than you can say ‘fizzy rosé’, the Traitors is back again. But this time, with a twist: it’s the Traitors, celebrity-style. 22 celebs will be entering the famous castle later this year for the ultimate game of skullduggery and deception, and with the line-up now out, we can finally see which big names are on the bill. Spoiler alert: there are a lot. But who’ll be well-suited to life in the castle, and who might find themselves axed before the end of the first episode? Here’s our (entirely non-scientific) breakdown of who might crumble, and who will thrive, ranked from most doomed to most devious. Surely? He’s educated, charismatic and very intelligent. Contestants will flock to him for guidance; it makes him the perfect target for any Traitors wishing to clear the field of competition early on. I fear he won’t be long for this world. If it’s not Stephen Fry, it’ll be Jonathan Ross. The comedian turned host knows how to work a room and entertain an audience, but as one of the bigger names entering the castle this year, he’s also likely got a massive target on his back. After all, what could be more tempting as a Traitor than bumping off a celebrity? Working on Traitors precedent, it’s usually the cerebral types that get killed off earlier, as the Traitors scramble to cover their tracks and prevent being found out. The extremely intelligent Lin got killed off early in season three for this reason, and I’m willing to bet that Olusoga – who doesn’t even have the option of anonymity here – might find himself in the firing line early. Big personalities in the castle tend to go one of two ways: either people believe beyond doubt that they’re innocent, or they’re singled out early as ‘hiding something’ and then are gone before you can say, ‘but I’m innocent!’ Odds, Carr might not last long for that very reason. YouTube prankster Omilana has form when it comes to doing big statements – he ran for London Mayor a few years ago, after all – but it remains to be seen how he’ll do when he’s not in control of the cameras. Possibly badly. Wilkinson’s deadpan style of comedy lends itself well to the stand-up circuit, but it could be an issue in the castle, where contestants will seize upon any tiny perceived sign of ‘oddness’ in their quest to root out Traitors. Tricky to say. The musician knows how to hold the attention of a crowd, and she’s certainly got charisma, but she’s a big name, and for the aforementioned reasons, the biggest might find themselves on the Traitors’ hit list... Marler is mainly (only) known for his work on the rugby pitch, so it remains to be seen what he’ll be like as a player. But given his obvious physical strength (a massive plus in the more challenging group tasks), it’s a good bet that he’ll be popular among his teammates. A relative unknown, which could work both for and against her. On the plus side, she’s more likely to slip under the radar in a house that has a lot of big celebrity characters rubbing up against each other. As we all know, a Welsh accent, feigned or otherwise (as in the case of the other, traitorous Charlotte) will get you far on the show. After all, it’s so comforting – which could make Church the dream choice for a Traitor, and certainly somebody who’s likely to survive the first couple of rounds. The benefits of being a comedian in the castle are potentially plentiful: making jokes will endear you to others, while the quick-thinking needed to ace a stand-up set will probably stand you in good stead for high-pressure situations like the roundtable. Or at least, that’s the plan. I mean, he played a cop in Line of Duty, so surely he’ll be good at rooting out deception? She’s a national treasure, and an award-winning actor. Who’s going to vote for Celia Imrie without feeling guilty? That is if they even get to that point: surely, Imrie will be putting her acting skills to good use by playing a blinder as a poor, innocent Faithful. She’ll be bringing the drama! As a soap veteran, it’s a fair bet that Empson has navigated her fair share of high-pressure situations (even if it’s only on-screen). It stands to reason, therefore, that she’ll be cool as ice when it comes to the dreaded roundtables. Mohammed has form playing sneaky little so-and-so’s – his Ted Lasso character Nate is the ultimate betrayer, and two-times his boss to go and manage West Ham for a bit. Maybe he’ll be able to bring some of that craftiness to the role. The ever-chipper, cheerful and generally wholesome Tom Daley might well be a secret horse here. Mainly because it’s impossible to believe that he could be anything other than a faithful. Insiders have told the Sun that signing the ever-calm Balding was genius: “No one really believes that the Beeb’s dependable, sensible face of sport could be a treacherous liar”. And indeed, Balding seems like she’ll go far in the role. She’s unflappable and radiates and air of competence that will probably make her one of the show’s leaders. Burns has one massive ace up her sleeve: she’s a Traitors megafan. During the times when the show is on, her TikTok account is full of her theories and analyses of the episodes and cast; surely, this in-depth knowledge will stand her in good stead when it comes to sniffing out the guilty parties and acing the final rounds. A true Traitors scholar.
