Why 120,000 vehicle owners are ‘stranded’ after being forced off the roads
@Source: independent.co.uk
Hundreds of thousands of UK drivers are affected by a nationwide "do not drive" recall issued by car manufacturer Stellantis for around 120,000 Citroën and DS models. The recall, prompted by faulty Takata airbags that can deploy improperly, has left owners stranded without transport, unable to sell their vehicles, and facing potential legal issues if they drive. Repair backlogs for the affected vehicles are extending into next year, causing significant disruption and financial strain for many owners, with no compensation being offered by Stellantis. Consumer rights group Which? has urged Stellantis to provide urgent fixes, offer appropriate compensation for alternative transport, and improve customer support, highlighting the severe emotional and financial burden on affected motorists. Stellantis states its focus is on swift airbag replacement, offering courtesy cars for urgent needs, while the DVSA supports the recall and is working with Citroën to ensure owners are aware of the driving prohibition.
