It’s official. Cristiano Ronaldo, should he stay fit, is set play the first match of his glorious football career against an Indian club in the AFC Champions League Two. Indian Super League club FC Goa has been drawn in Group D alongside Al Nassr (Saudi Arabia) Alzawra’a FC (Iraq) and FC Istiklol (Tajikistan). The ACL 2 group stage will get underway from September. Will Cristiano Ronaldo Play In India? As part of the fixtures, Al Nassr will face FC Goa twice – at home and away. And there are bright chances of Ronaldo being part of their home fixture. However, there’s uncertainty over the Portuguese icon traveling to India for the away tie. As per various reports, there’s a clause in Ronaldo’s contract which states that he won’t be part of the club’s away fixtures of the continental tournament. Even last year, Al-Nassr’s match against Iran’s Esteghlal was shifted to Dubai citing security reasons. The 40-year-old football icon is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers to have played the game. During his career, he has represented several top clubs including Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus FC. He joined Al Nassr in December 2022 following an acrimonious exit from Manchester United. There were speculations over Ronaldo’s future with the Saudi club with rumours of a possible switch to Major League Soccer of USA. However, in June, he signed a contract extension which will keep him at the club until 2027. Ronaldo Gets Engaged Meanwhile, football world is abuzz with reports of Ronaldo getting engaged to his long time partner Georgina Rodriguez. The two reportedly met in 2016 and have been dating nearly for a decade now. Mohun Bagan in Group C Besides FC Goa, another Indian club will feature in AFC Champions League Two. Mohun Bagan Super Giant have been drawn in Group C which also includes Sepahan SC (Iran), Al Hussein (Jordan) and Ahal FC (Turkmenistan).
