Follow the Daily Excelsior channel on WhatsApp The unique park will come up on around 40 kanals of land at Bhagwati Nagar instead of earlier proposed site of Khanpur in Nagrota where forest clearance issue was involved. The present site is encumbrance free and doesn’t require any sort of clearance or No Objection Certificate (NOC). “All the formalities have been completed by Jammu Smart City Limited and tender for execution of project under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode will be floated most probably during next week”, official sources told EXCELSIOR, adding a Pan-India model for such parks will be adopted for establishment of “Waste to Wonder Park” in Jammu. The project will be completed within one year from the date of commencement under Viability Gap Fund (VGF) Scheme, they further said, adding the revenue to be generated by the “Waste to Wonder Park” will be shared between the vendor and Jammu Smart City Limited. The park will have replicas of 14 international, national and local monuments and all will be created by using waste material like iron pipes of different sizes, angles, machine parts, metal sheets, waste utensils, vessels, e-waste and used rubber tyres. The international monuments whose replicas will be created are Todaji Temple of Japan (famous for its great Buddha statue, the world’s largest wooden building and its many cultural treasures), White House of USA, Angkor Wat of Combodia (world’s largest religious monument famous for its intricate carvings), Colloseum of Italy (site of ancient Roman gladiatorial combats), Sphynx of Egypt (renowned for massive size, unique lion body with a human head), Eiffel Tower (tallest structure in the world) and Taksang Monastery of Bhutan (a culturally significant structure). The national monuments and places whose replicas will also form part of the “Waste to Wonder Park” are Golden Temple, Statute of Unity, Kedarnath and Taj Mahal while as local monuments will be Akhnoor Fort, Chenab Valley Bridge and Krimchi Temples. The “Waste to Wonder Park” will have administrative block, ticketing counter, seven shops, kids adventure zone, food court, kiosks, open air theatre, Gazebo, water points etc in order to provide all the facilities to the visitors at one place. When contacted, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jammu Smart City Limited Devansh Yadav confirmed that tender is being floated shortly for the “Waste to Wonder Park”, adding “we aim to create a sustainable and innovative model for waste management and tourism through this endeavor”. “This will be first of its kind project in Jammu and Kashmir on the pattern of one at Lucknow and another at Delhi”, he further said, adding “tonnes of construction and demolition waste will be used in the project and waste will be sourced from various places by the vendor as per his choice”. In response to a question, he said that in Nagrota area it was very difficult to make available encumbrance free land as such it was finally decided to construct the park at Bhagwati Nagar where the identified land belongs to Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). It is pertinent to mention here that earlier this land was being used for dumping of waste by the Municipal Corporation and following shifting of dumping site to Kot Bhalwal the bioremediation of Bhagwati Nagar dumping site was conducted to make it suitable for any other project.
