Would James Marsden do ‘The White Lotus?’ He weighs in
@Source: nypost.com
Will he check in? HBO’s Emmy-winning hit “The White Lotus” has become a “who’s who” of scene-stealing actors. Season 1 had Connie Britton, Sydney Sweeney and Jennifer Coolidge. Season 2 boasted Theo James, Michael Imperioli and Aubrey Plaza, and Season 3 (airing Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO and Max) has Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Carrie Coon and Patrick Schwarzenegger. The show has already been renewed for Season 4, and James Marsden seems like a natural fit. During a recent interview when Marsden was promoting his Hulu show, “Paradise,” The Post asked if he’d do “The White Lotus.” “That would be fun,” he said. “David Bernad is the producer. I worked with him and [‘The White Lotus’ creator] Mike White on a movie called ‘The D Train,’ ” Marsden shared, referring to the 2015 comedy he co-starred in with Jack Black. “And so, I’ve known Mike and David for a while,” the “Westworld” star explained. “They’re friends, so I never want to be like, ‘Hey, can I put myself on tape?’ Mike’s got his own way of doing things,” he added. “But yeah, I would love that. I would love to be [in ‘The White Lotus’].” Each season of White’s dark dramedy/mystery series follows a group of different wealthy, miserable people on vacation at the fictional White Lotus luxury resort. Each season starts with a death before slowly revealing the events leading up to the incident. The seasons are mostly standalone, with new casts and new branches of the resort – Season 1 was Hawaii, Season 2 was Sicily, and Season 3 is Thailand. Talking to The Post before Season 3 premiered, Bernad said that it’s become like the Olympics, with countries vying to host the next season. “There’s an element of that – of people soliciting us – which is incredibly flattering and unexpected.” Many of the unhappy elites on vacation in the show are unintentionally funny, or they’re jerks. Marsden could play either type – he’s played comedic roles in “30 Rock” and “Enchanted,” and he played jerks in “Jury Duty” and the 2008 comedy “Sex Drive.” “I just think it’s lightning in a bottle with that show,” Marsden told The Post. “Something so specific and beautifully shot with [White’s] sort of wry, sometimes weird dark sense of humor. It’s really my style. Absolutely, that’d be fun [to be in it].”
