On the evening of October 16, 1972, Wael Zwaiter finished his work at the Libyan Embassy in Rome, went to a nearby bar, had one drink, and headed back to his apartment. At the building entrance, two assailants were waiting. They shot him 11 times – a symbolic number echoing the 11 Israeli athletes murdered by Palestinian terrorists at the Munich Olympics just a month earlier.
