WrestleMania 41 night one RESULTS: Shock heel turn in the main event decides Reigns vs Rollins vs CM Punk as three new champions are also crowned

Plenty of titles changed hands on night one of WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, but t's the main event that left everyone talking. Some 61,467 fans packed into the Allegiant Stadium to witness WWE's biggest show of the year with Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and CM Punk closing the show. However, it was Paul Heyman that stole the headlines by helping decide the main event in spectacular fashion. Jey Uso vs Gunther (c) - World Heavyweight Championship The match started off with a collar and elbow tie-up which one wouldn't expect when out for vengence after one party dismantled the other party's brother, but Uso soon broke away to give Gunther a good slap and kick things off in earnest. The champion got the upperhand with his striking and before long he landed his shotgun dropkick followed by the powerbomb, only for Uso to kick-out. Uso then responded with a spear and splash from the top rope for his own two count. Gunther managed to hit Uso with the title belt and hit his own splash from the top, but again, Uso refused to lay down. The finishing sequence saw Uso hit Gunther with his own powerbomb, land another spear, hit THREE splashes from the top rope before choking Gunther out with his own sleeper hold. Whatever the internet seems to think about Uso and his credentials as a world champion, the reaction in the stadium was very strong and you can't deny 60,000 people yeeting their hearts out. The crowd's joy at Jey embracing his brother Jimmy - whom he faced at the same event just one year earlier - really tied together Jey's journey nicely. Once Uso was picked to win the Rumble and challenge Gunther, a win was the only thing that would have made it all worth it. It's a great moment, it's on WWE and Jey to make sure it's more than that. RESULT: Jey Uso wins the World Heavyweight Championship New Day vs War Raiders (c) - RAW World Tag Team Championships This match got into the spots real fast. Both War Raiders used their bodies to hurt New Day with splashes and sentons on the outside before New Day, the bad guys in this equation, managed to take control in the ring. Ivar hitting a moonsault from the top rope nearly ended in disaster but other than that, this was about New Day doing what it takes to get the job done and the finish saw Kingston holding down Erik's leg on the outside as Woods got the pin. Not the smoothest match you'll ever see, but that actually made it look a hard-hitting affair as you'd hope. New Day winning the belts with their new attitude is infinitely more interesting than the War Raiders having it. Interested to see where it goes. RESULT: New Day win the RAW Tag Team Championships Jade Cargill vs Naomi This match was all about Cargill getting revenge on Naomi for throwing her through a car windshield and betraying her as a friend. So it was no surprise hat Cargill dominated her immediately. An X-factor draped from the apron to the outside gave Naomi some momentum back and livened up the crowd. This match certainly got better as it went; the ladies conjured some interesting spots using the turnbuckle with a bulldog for Naomi and utilising Jade's power for the finish. An electric chair turned into a powerbomb before Cargill hit Jaded to secure the 1-2-3. RESULT: Jade Cargill wins Jacob Fatu vs LA Knight (c) - United States Championship Make no mistake, this match should be Jacob Fatu's coming out party and when Knight landed a babyface onslaught on him early, the crowd really came to life when Fatu landed a Samoan Drop in response. Chants of Fatu rang out around the Allegiant Stadium as he went to work. Business really picked up when Knight hit Fatu with a german suplex from the top rope and then he hit BFT off a moonsault with the most perfect timing you'll ever see. However, Fatu landed a Samoan Drop from the top rope followed by two pop-up moonsaults to secure his first championship in WWE. Fatu is the truth - trust me on that. He will be a WrestleMania main eventer and everything we've heard from those inside WWE is that they're staggered with not only how good he is, but just how fast he's connected with the fans. RESULT: Jacob Fatu wins the United States Championship El Grande Americano vs Rey Fenix Chad Gable - I mean El Grande Americano - has been killing it in his new role and is the perfect technical wrestler to work with the best luchadors in the world. It's a beautiful mix. Fenix was a last-minute substitution here for the legendary Rey Mysterio who got injured on SmackDown just one night prior. There were so many spots in this match it would take us an age to go through them all, but highlights include Fenix landing a 450 splash on his back from the top rope, Fenix scaling the ropes to deliver a soccer kick and falling and then once again but successfully. El Grande Americano slippe steel plate in his mask half way through the match-up which proved to be a difference maker. A headbutt downed the new WWE signing and then a diving headbutt from the top rope secured the victory for America's favourite homegrown luchador. RESULT: EL Grande Americano Tiffany Stratton (c) vs Charlotte Flair - SmackDown Women's Championship First of all, the boos for Flair were deafening. She entered after the champion too, which is an unusual move. The match started very back-and-forth before, predictably, the heel started to dictate. It was a technically sound match, as you'd hope with two women of this quality. Acter 15 minutes of action, Stratton finally started targeting the bad knee of Flair that kept her out of action for some 13 months, but even that didn't last. In fact Flair started targeting Stratton's knee in an attempt to soften it up for the figure Eight, but once in the Figure Four, Stratton once again wailed on Flair's bad wheel. Natural Selection from the top rope wasn't enough to put Stratton away and eventually, the champion managed to land her prettiest moonsault ever for the win. Stratton emerged the winner, but with a nasty cut on her forehead and a chipped tooth. Winning a gritty fight is what this match should have been all along and the aesthetic helps that idea, even if the action didn't totally match. Looking at the result, losing to Flair would not have hurt Stratton. But, there wasn't much value or hunger to see the belt on Flair right now either. That time may come again, but right now is Tiffy time. RESULT: Tiffany Stratton wins and retains her title Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns vs CM Punk In Living Color played CM Punk to the ring for what has to be said is one of the best WrestleMania entrances in recent memory. That certainly added to the big fight feel three of the biggest names in the business already brought to the table. The match started with Punk vacating the ring and letting the two former Shield members battling it out, but as soon as they did he couldn't resist getting in on the action. The match quickly made it's way to the outside where Rollins used a trash can, Reigns used a prime bottle and the match became a fight. It wasn't the standard format of triple threat where one man lies down while the other two work. Punk managed a neckbreaker on Roman and a DDT on Rollins at the same time as the trio found creative ways to work together at a great pace. Reigns speared Punk but then when he tried to spear Rollins he walked into the Pedigree and then a stomp. Rollins then missed a Phoenix Splash, ran into a spear from Reigns who then got hit with Punk's Go To Sleep in an exhilarating sequence. Still no winner. Next was a Pedigree from Rollins to Punk and that still wasn't enough to get the win. Rollins tempted Reigns to do the Shield powerbomb on Punk though the table, but Roman elected to punch Rollins and then powerbomb both men on his own through separate tables. Magic. Back in the ring, Reigns speared Rollins but still, a kickout. Reigns and Punk traded submissions before Rollins got in the mix and locked in a sharpshooter on Punk, complete with flipping him the bird. Punk gave Roman a crub stomp while he was trying to submit Rollins and then landed the GTS on Rollins - but still no winner! Rollins kicked out at two as the crowd in Las Vegas reached fever pitch. A GTS from Punk to Rollins, followed by a Spear from Reigns to Punk and then a Curb Stomp from Rollins to Reigns made everyone fall down. Heyman then deliberated over giving a chair to Punk or Roman and to the amazement of the crowd gave it to Punk, but then proceeded to low blow his former best friend. Then Rollins was reeling against the ropes, primed for Reigns to gave him the same chair shot Rollins had given him to break up The Shield 11 years earlier. Instead, Heyman low-blowed Reigns and aligned with Rollins to stun everyone! Rollins then took the chair and battered Reigns before landing one final curb stomp and securing the victory. That, was an all-time triple-threat and all-time main event right there. RESULT: Seth Rollins def. Roman Reigns and CM Punk
