At just 16 years old, Alfaz del Pi athlete Julieta Sanz has closed her season with yet another remarkable achievement, adding an international medal to her already extensive list of honours. Specialising in lifesaving and finswimming, she secured a bronze medal at the Finswimming World Cup in the women’s 4x100m surface relay alongside her teammates, and achieved an impressive fourth place in the mixed relay.
Sanz, who trains with Club Babel in finswimming and Club Leucante in lifesaving, already holds a staggering collection of 110 medals across her sporting career. Her results this year further confirm her position among the brightest young talents in Spanish sport.
Her World Cup performances also included a 10th place finish in the 200m bi-fins, 12th in the 100m bi-fins and 14th in the 50m bi-fins. At the regional championships she became champion in the 50m bi-fins, took silver in the 100m and bronze in the 200m, as well as gold in the 4x200m surface relay. She also claimed silver in the mixed relay.
Bronze in the mixed relay
Representing the Comunitat Valenciana at the Spanish national competition, she won bronze in the mixed relay, while at the Spanish Championships she secured two silver medals in the 4x100m and 4x200m surface relays.
Her lifesaving results with Club Leucante have been equally outstanding. At the Spanish Cup she took silver in the 100m manikin tow with fins and bronze in the 100m lifesaver. At the regional championships she added further medals, including silver in the 4x50m medley relay, bronze in the mixed 4x50m lifesaver relay, and gold in the beach sprint relay.
In the Spanish Beach Championships she reached the podium once again with bronze in both flags and sprint relay, and silver in the mixed ocean relay.
Julieta proudly represents both her hometown of Alfaz del Pi and the Comunitat Valenciana. She continues to prove that effort, determination and passion can take an athlete a very long way. “This is only the beginning,” she said, already setting her sights on future podiums and new goals in the seasons ahead.
