Former Love Island star Zara McDermott has shed new light on the so-called "drama" between her ex, Sam Thompson, and her new boyfriend, former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson. Sam and Zara first started dating back in early 2019, and the pair later made their relationship official on Instagram in June of that year. Before long, the public got to see the couple's relationship play out in the hit reality TV series Made In Chelsea. After a brief break-up a year later, they soon rekindled their romance in December 2020. However, just last year, it was confirmed that the couple had gone their separate ways after what Sam described as a "tough year." Fast forward a few months, and Zara has found love again after speculation that she was dating Louis Tomlinson was later confirmed, following a heartfelt response to one of her Instagram posts that read, "Proud of you x." Meanwhile, in a twist of fate, it was announced earlier this year that Sam and Louis would be playing for the same side in the annual Soccer Aid football match. Money raised from the event goes to the charity UNICEF. However, shedding light on the situation during a recent interview with The Sun magazine, Zara explained that she would prefer the media focus on her documentary-making rather than her personal life, saying: "The only thing in my life that’s worth writing about is the work I do.” Despite that, she was eager to put to bed any claims that there were ill feelings between her ex and Louis Tomlinson: “I see some of the things that are written and I’m like: ‘Why do we focus on the non-existent drama?’ Sometimes that can be frustrating, but I suppose it’s all part of the industry." Away from her time starring on Love Island and Made in Chelsea, she put her dancing skills to the test last year, as she danced alongside Graziano Di Prima on Strictly Come Dancing. However, her time on the competition was relatively short-lived, as they were voted out in the fifth week. She has also made a name for herself in the world of documentary-making in recent years, releasing a number of shows covering a range of important topics. Some of her most well-known shows include Ibiza: Secrets of the Party Island and Zara McDermott: Disordered Eating.
