Today (May 15) marks the 44th birthday of Royal equestrian Zara Tindall, and while she has many accomplishments to her name, it's her relationship with husband Mike Tindall that fans find particularly endearing, often referring to them as a "breath of fresh air".
Since tying the knot with the former England rugby union player in 2011, the public's fascination with Zara and Mike has only grown. The couple, who share two daughters and a son, recently caught attention for their playful interaction during an interview on Magic Millions' YouTube page, which fans found delightful. As the granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II, Zara is a prominent figure within the Royal Family.
She spoke candidly about her longstanding involvement with Magic Millions - Australia's leading thoroughbred sales company - and her lifelong passion for horses.
Her equestrian achievements, including World and European Championships titles and an Olympic silver medal won on home soil at the London games, have been a source of national pride.
Zara, an avid polo player, also opened up about her childhood surrounded by horses and the significant influence of her parents, Princess Anne and Mark Phillips. She reminisced: "Just generally I remember being around horses when I was young and ponies and we were really lucky and my mother and father were riding so it was very much their career at the time and we would kind of do a lot of stuff at home with them, lots of quality time on the horses, and in the yard."
"I think if we weren't in the house we were up in the yard, looking after them, learning about them, really lucky," she added.
Zara fondly recalled her childhood experiences with a Shetland pony named Smokey, which was a shared favourite among the family. Speaking to her husband, she reminisced: "I just remember always loving it, the partnership, the freedom you get from it, and obviously the thrill you get from it, going fast, love jumping and being able to do it on your own. I loved looking after them and caring for animals. It was just fun."
The royal, who is 17th in line to the throne, also admitted that motherhood has changed her relationship with horse riding. "It's just completely different," Zara confessed, describing it as "hard work".
However, she sees it as a blessing, as it has allowed her to introduce her children to the equestrian world. Fans were charmed by the candid conversation, particularly noting the strong bond between Zara and Mike.
One fan commented: "Grounded, down to earth, best friends and lovers. So glad they found each other." Another chimed in: "Loved this interview, you can see they are such a great team how they bounce off each other! ,".
"What a breath of fresh air and delightfully presented listening to such a great athlete and her beloved no1 supporter! ," another fan remarked. "Such a fun couple," said another.
Fans were brimming with compliments for the pair, as one enthused: "These two are a joy. She is a fabulous representative for the UK....and Mike....what can I say....flipping fab. What a partnership!" Another chimed in with praise: "This was fantastic, the flow, chemistry, banter, love and respect between Mike and Zara was lovely to watch."
The sentiments continued as another fan remarked, "Really enjoyed this, two down to earth people who love sport and family life," Adding to the chorus of approval, someone noted: "What a lovely interview. It was funny, kind and informative. Enjoyed all of it. The friendly laughter between you both was a pleasure to see."
Remarking on the couple's televised conversation, one individual declared, "I found this Zara and Mike Magic Millions interview is such a breath of fresh air," highlighting the refreshingly candid nature of their exchange.
