$13.5 million Toronto home features breathtaking library

Whether the home is centuries or a couple decades old, there's a reason "traditional" doesn't go out of style. Sure, traditional homes aren't everyone's preferred aesthetic or taste, but there's always something to be admired when it comes to attention to detail and craftsmanship. And 113 Donwoods Dr. might just showcase how stunning traditional design can be. The living room. This four-bedroom, seven-bathroom home overlooking Rosedale Golf Club features the grandeur and top-notch craftsmanship of an old-money English estate – but without the drafty windows, terrible plumbing, or questionable electrical work. The skylight above the main staircase. As you enter the home, you step into the grand foyer, which is super bright thanks to a leaded glass skylight over the staircase. The dining room. On the main floor, you have your principal rooms. They're all very classic with lovely crown moulding, coffered ceilings, and each room seems to have a fireplace. The kitchen and family room or it could be a breakfast nook. The kitchen and family room are open-concept with plenty of light. The custom cabinetry dividing the kitchen from the living room. The kitchen is unique with its custom cabinetry that allows the kitchen to be open or closed depending on whether you slide the windows closed or not. The library. But the true piece-de-la-resistance on the main floor is the two-storey library. Walnut bookcases. With walnut panelling, a fireplace, wall-to-wall bookcases and a staircase leading to the study, it's a thing of beauty and a type of space book lovers dream of. A bedroom. Upstairs are the main bedrooms. The primary bedroom. The primary suite is decadent with cathedral like ceilings and big bright windows. The primary ensuite bathroom. It also comes complete with a fireplace, walk-in dressing room, balcony and six-piece marble ensuite bathroom. Another bedroom. The other bedrooms all have their own ensuites too. The basement recreation room. As for the basement, it has everything you could ever want. The home theatre. There's a large recreation room, a party room with a wet bar, a games room, gym, home theatre, an extra bedroom, kitchenette and even a wine cellar. The west yard. The yards, yes two, are a continuation of the luxury. The west facing 45-foot yard is, according to the listing, a great child-safe play area. A sun room with a fireplace. Or if you don't have small children, the listing suggests it would be an ideal location for a garden suite. The backyard features a large in-ground pool, a hot tub and multiple patios. It's also exceptionally private thanks to the lack of backyard neighbours. The study. 113 Donwood Dr. is listed for $13,588,000, although it is worth mentioning this is the third time it has been listed in the past 2 years. The classic kitchen. Every time it was listed for the exact same amount, which means the sellers are very firm on the asking price. The family room. Normally, in this market, that would be strange and largely unhelpful tactic for selling your house. The living room looking over to the kitchen. But York Mills has seen house prices sky rocket by 66 per cent in the last year. A bedroom with built-in shelves and wardrobe. Now, instead of selling for an average of $3.6 million, the average house sells for over $6 million. The backyard with the pool and tiered patios. So, perhaps the sellers are smart to stick to their guns, especially with promises of a rebounding 2025 real estate market.
