Sixteen inmates of the Government BC Boys Hostel in Srikalahasti town were on Tuesday rushed to the Srikalahasti Area Hospital after complaints of stomach pain reportedly due to food poisoning.
According to reports, after having idly for breakfast, the students complained that the food had turned stale, but the warden allegedly continued to serve them the same. Sixteen inmates complained of stomach ache and were rushed to the Hospital, where they are recovering.
Srikalahasti MLA Bojjala Venkata Sudheer Reddy, currently in Vijayawada, immediately called the doctors and directed them to provide the best treatment to the students. The doctors informed the MLA that only one exhibited serious symptoms of food poisoning, while the condition of the fifteen was stable. The MLA warned serious action if negligence turned out to be the reason.
Meanwhile, Tirupati MP M. Gurumurthy, who is currently in New Delhi, also expressed anguish over the incident. He spoke to the local BC Welfare Officer over telephone and directed him to provide proper medical treatment to the students. He also insisted on a thorough inquiry into the matter to bring to book those responsible for the unfortunate incident.
