2025 NFL draft: Michigan DT Kenneth Grant picked by Dolphins in Round 1
@Source: mlive.com
He was once called a “gift from the football God” by Jim Harbaugh, and now he’s a first-round NFL draft pick. Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant was picked by the Miami Dolphins at No. 13 on Thursday, marking the third Wolverine taken in the still-ongoing first round in Green Bay. Grant was the second Michigan defensive lineman to hear his name called, following fellow tackle Mason Graham (No. 5, Browns). Tight end Colston Loveland went to the Chicago Bears at No. 10. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 331 pounds, Grant was a run stuffer and agile bag man who earned third-team All-American status in 2024 and was twice an all-Big Ten selection. He appeared in 41 games for the Wolverines with 17 starts, compiling 69 tackles (11.5 for a loss), 6.5 sacks and 12 pass deflections. Grant was an integral part of Michigan’s 2023 national championship team, accumulating five tackles for loss and three sacks, along with an interception. And even during a down year for Michigan in 2024, Grant and Graham helped comprise one of the nation’s best run-stuffing units in the country. They worked well in tandem, but Grant is considered more of a nose tackle at the next level despite his athletic traits. At Michigan’s pro day in March, Grant benched 27 reps of 225 pounds, ran the 40-yard dash in 5.07 seconds, jumped 31 inches vertically, broad jumped 8 feet, 9 1/2 inches, and ran the three-cone drill in 7.65 seconds. A Gary, Indiana native, Grant was a three-star recruit out of Merrillville High School, where he was a two-way player and flashed his pass-rushing prowess. Three years later, he has the chance to become an impact player in the NFL. Apparently Harbaugh knew what he was talking about.
