Thirty people have been confirmed safe after the Tunu Pratama Jaya ferry tragically capsized off the coast of Bali on Wednesday night. However, 29 others are still unaccounted for, and six have been confirmed dead, according to Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas).Deputy for Operations Ribut Eko Suyanto reported that Friday’s rescue operations were anything but easy — teams battled strong winds, low visibility of just three kilometers, and wave heights reaching up to 2.5 metres in the waters around Bali.Search efforts are now zeroing in on two key zones: the northern Ketapang–Gilimanuk ferry route and the southern waters off Bali Island.Wahyu Setia Budi of the Banyuwangi SAR office said the Tunu Pratama Jaya, a roll-on/roll-off ferry, was carrying 53 passengers, 12 crew members, and 22 vehicles when it left Ketapang Port in East Java’s Banyuwangi District at 10:56 pm local time. Less than an hour later — at around 11:35 p.m. — the vessel sank en route to Gilimanuk Port in Bali.In response to the maritime disaster, President Prabowo Subianto has ordered all government agencies involved to go all out in the rescue mission and spare no effort to locate the missing and aid survivors.
