AB De Villiers was present at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where on Tuesday, June 3, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs to win the IPL 2025 title. In the summit clash played in front of more than 90000 fans, after being invited to bat first by PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer, RCB rode on Virat Kohli’s 43-run knock to post a total of 190 runs on the board for the loss of nine wickets. The 191-run target wasn’t a big one, but thanks to Krunal Pandya’s super show with the ball, RCB successfully managed to defend it by restricting PBKS to 184/7 despite Shashank Singh’s fifty. For his super show with the ball in the summit clash, Krunal won the Player of the Match (POTM) award. After RCB secured a famous win over PBKS in the IPL 2025 final, De Villiers took to X to share a post. In the tweet going viral on the internet, De Villiers wrote, “Ee Sala Cup Namde Namdu.” De Villiers was present at the Narendra Modi Stadium for the final, and he celebrated RCB’s memorable win with Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and RCB’s batch of 2025. The former South African captain played 156 IPL matches for RCB from 2011 to 2021 and, with the help of two centuries and 37 half-centuries, scored 4491 runs. ABD played two IPL finals for RCB in 2011 and 2016 but finished as runner-up only. Patidar creates history RCB retained Rajat Patidar for Rs 11 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction and he was appointed as captain for the 2025 season on February 13. In his first year as captain, Patidar led RCB to an IPL title win. He is the sixth Indian after MS Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Shreyas Iyer to win the IPL title as captain. Kohli finished as the leading run getter for RCB in IPL 2025 by amassing a total of 659 runs in 15 matches, and Australia’s Josh Hazlewood topped the wicket-takers list by dismissing 22 batters in 12 matches.
