Abbey Clancy confessed she and husband Peter Crouch “haven’t made a romantic effort” for each other in a while. Liverpool-born model Abbey , 39, and former England footballer Peter, 44, began dating in 2006. The couple married in 2011 and now share children Sophia Ruby, 14, Liberty Rose, 9, Johnny, 7 and six-year-old Jack together. While their relationship has endured almost two decades, Abbey admits they can sometimes lack romance together. On their The Therapy Crouch podcast, Abbey revealed former Premier League footballer Peter used to leave her “love letters” when he left for work. She said: “We haven’t really made a romantic effort. Remember when you used to go to work and leave me little love letters on the pillow and stuff like that?” Peter however believes it’s small gestures that keep the romance alive in a long-term relationship. He added: “I think there was something today that made me think, ‘Oh she loves me.’” When quizzed by Abbey, he responded: “When you got up with me this morning when I was going out really early and you made me, because my back’s sore, a little ibuprofen drink. As stupid as that sounds, it’s a nice thing. “And then lifted my top up and sprayed my back with Voltarol. In a relationship this long, that is a romantic gesture.” The couple were discussing romance after Peter claimed Abbey “takes it to heart” when watching a film. He joked it left Abbey longing for a fairytale romance like she sees on the big screen. He said: “You take it all to heart, you compare everything to our relationship. And I think this is a Hollywood movie, a love story, no man is building that house in the Notebook for all those years. “There’s lots of romance in our relationship at various times. Hollywood romance is a film, it’s Hollywood.” The Notebook is a love story about Noah (Ryan Gosling), a poor young man, who wins back his true love, Allie (Rachel McAdams) by fulfilling his promise to restore a beautiful old house they once dreamed of sharing. Peter and Abbey’s discussion came as the model recently revealed they are “living separate lives” as they work on different projects together. This she says means they can “maintain a healthy relationship”. It came as Peter revealed the recent spell of warm weather meant he could enjoy a round of golf in the sun, while Abbey is a lover of animals. She said: “We live separate lives now. He goes to golf and I go horse riding, and then we meet at the end.” Peter then clarified: "I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Like, not every day, because we need to do stuff together as well. But I think some part of the week, I think that's a totally healthy relationship." Abbey then concluded: "It is, because I've never been happier."
