The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has appointed Adesua Dozie and three others into top management positions, as part of an ongoing shake-up aimed at boosting efficiency and attracting investment into the country’s oil and gas sector.
Adesua Dozie, who is the Vice Chairman of ExxonMobil Companies in Nigeria and the first female Regional General Counsel for Africa Upstream, has been named the Company Secretary and Chief Legal Officer at NNPC. She is expected to provide legal advice and ensure the company follows regulatory requirements.
Also appointed is Rowland Ewubare, who will serve as Group Chief Operating Officer. He is tasked with overseeing NNPC’s day-to-day operations and ensuring that the company’s strategic goals are achieved smoothly.
Mumuni Dagazau has been made Executive Vice President, Downstream. He will manage NNPC’s refining, distribution, and marketing operations. On her part, Sophia Mbakwe will serve as Executive Vice President, Business Services, where she will lead the administrative and logistics side of the company.
These new appointments follow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent decision to overhaul the NNPC board. It also comes shortly after the appointment of Bashir Ojulari, a former top executive at Shell and Renaissance Africa Energy Company, as part of efforts to improve performance at NNPC.
The federal government has been making efforts to reform NNPC and make it more competitive, especially in attracting both local and international investors.
