The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria has unveiled a book offering insights into key global issues, the looming threat of a third world war, and Islamic principles for preventing conflicts. The book titled “World Crisis and the Pathway to Peace” aims at reinforcing Islam’s teachings against violence and extremism. Speaking at the event, Folorunsho Azeez, the National Head (Amir) of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, reiterated that true Islamic teachings promote peace, justice, and equality. “Powerful and rich countries should not oppress weaker nations but abide by the principles of justice. Islam has established the foundation for peaceful coexistence, selflessness, and equal rights among all people,” he stated. Azeez condemned global conflicts driven by political and economic ambitions rather than religious motives. “They are not fighting for Islam. They are fighting for power, territory, and resources, which are not pillars of Islam. Their actions are crimes against humanity. As a religious body, we advise that demands should be made through constitutional means, not violence,” Azeez said. He further addressed concerns regarding Sharia law in Nigeria, emphasizing that it is not imposed on non-Muslims. “Sharia courts have existed in the southwest for years, and no one is forced to go there. Nigeria is a secular state, and religious groups are allowed to resolve disputes within their faith’s framework. The real fear is the misapplication of Sharia law, such as extreme punishments that contradict justice and human rights,” he added. The event concluded with the reading of Qur’an 57:21, highlighting the need for forgiveness and the promotion of peace. Also speaking, the Managing Director of MTA International, Munir-ud-Din Shams, emphasized the importance of justice and peaceful coexistence in international relations. “The position of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is justice. Those who are powerful must recognize the right to peaceful coexistence and avoid taking over another country’s territory, as such acts only lead to temporary gains and eventual violence,” he said. The event, attended by religious leaders, media representatives, and dignitaries, also featured a video presentation on MTA Nigeria, whose motto is “Love for All, Hatred for None.”
