Amanda Seyfried Turned Down Huge Marvel Movie For Ridiculous Reason
@Source: newsweek.com
Amanda Seyfried has yet to become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it turns out she had the opportunity to become one of its greatest heroes years ago but turned it down because she thought the movie would bomb. Before Zoe Saldaña was cast as Gamora, the deadliest woman in the universe, Seyfried was offered the part and she gave it a pass.Read More: Marvel's 'Fantastic Four' Gets Lost In TimeSpeaking about it on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, Seyfried had a number of reasons for saying no to "Guardians of the Galaxy," but the chief reason seems to be she didn't see its potential."But let's also remember that being a part of the first Marvel movie that bombs ain't good for your career," Seyfried said. "I thought that because this was about a talking tree and a talking raccoon, that it was going to be Marvel's first bomb and that Chris Pratt would never work again. I was wrong! But I was just being smart. It's not brave."Of course, as we all know now, if she had said yes to Gamora, she would've gone on to not only star in three successful "Guardians of the Galaxy" films, but two blockbuster "Avengers" movies.But to be fair to Seyfried, she was hardly the only person who lacked confidence in "Guardians of the Galaxy" before it came out. Not to mention, she had other reasons for passing on the film: "I was really scared of the idea of being stuck and painted a different color ... I didn't want to live in London for six months out of the year, for whatever reason. There was another movie I really wanted to do with Seth MacFarlane called 'A Million Ways to Die in the West.' It felt like a good opportunity."Regardless of everything, Seyfried said that she doesn't regret passing on Gamora. "I don't regret anything," Seyfried said. "I made that decision for myself. It was good for me then and it was good for me now."Amanda Seyfriend stars in the crime thriller miniseries "Long Bright River" streaming now on Peacock. Her upcoming projects include "Ann Lee," a historical musical about the founder of the Shakers religious sect, and the psychological thriller "The Housemaid" in which Seyfried will co-star with Sydney Sweeney.More Comics:'The Boys' Prequel Casts 'Blue Bloods' StarRusso Brothers Want Millie Bobby Brown in 'Avengers: Doomsday
