Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi will have a medical ahead of his move to Arsenal. The Spanish international has a £51million release clause and those payment between the La Liga club and Arsenal are already agreed.
Once the 26-year-old passes the medical, Arsenal will be in a position to announce Zubimendi's signing, which would be their first capture of the summer, reports the BBC.
It is understood that the relevant documents which relate to Zubimendi's switch to the Emirates have been signed. The club have a long-term interest in the midfielder, who excelled in last summer's Euros.
Liverpool were heavily linked with Zubimendi 12 months ago but Sociedad chiefs managed to convince their player to stay put. It is the second time in as many summers that Arsenal have gone to raid the Spanish club having signed Mikel Merino last year.
As well as Zubimendi the Gunners want to sign a new striker with Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres among their preferred targets.
Sociedad's president had previously said: "He's had several opportunities to leave and he'll make the decision he wants, because he'll have more options."
