ATP Cincinnati Semifinal Predictions Including Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev
@Source: yardbarker.com
The semifinals are set on the men’s side of the draw at the ATP Cincinnati Masters with a day of thrilling tennis in the offing in Ohio. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for both matches, but who will advance to the finals?
ATP Cincinnati Semifinal Predictions
Jannik Sinner vs Terence Atmane
Head-to-head: first meeting
The defending champion, Jannik Sinner, has been in imperious form and is into the semifinals without dropping a set. Sinner dominated in the quarterfinals against Felix-Auger-Aliassime, who managed to win just two games. The Italian has now extended his hard-court win streak to 25 matches, and it’s hard to see him stopping anytime soon. His relentless baseline game, coupled with improved net play, is a recipe for success.
Terence Atmane is playing the tennis of his life and has upset two top-10 players back-to-back. He was incredible against Holger Rune in the quarterfinals, and his forehand was firing on all cylinders. He has demonstrated his talent, but facing Sinner will be a step up that he probably isn’t quite ready for. Sinner does everything better and won’t give anything away cheaply. Expect the world #1 to dominate from the baseline and suffocate the Frenchman.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev
Head-to-head: Zverev 6-5 Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz is in his second Cincinnati Open final, as he did just enough to get past Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinal. Alcaraz played a great first set, but then his level dropped and Rublev raised his. Alcaraz stepped up his level in the third set but lost his focus again when serving for the match. He will need to bring a better level to beat one of his toughest opponents in the form of Alexander Zverev, who cruised past Toronto champion Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals.
The match was of low quality, as both Zverev and Shelton struggled physically. Zverev faced difficulty in breathing but seemed to be getting better towards the end of the match. He is in his fourth semifinal here and will hope to be physically ready for the challenge against Alcaraz. The German has played some of his best tennis against Alcaraz in the past, and will be confident to do that again. If Zverev serves at his best, it will be difficult for the Spaniard to stop him. Zverev might just have the edge here in what promises to be a fiercely contested match.
Prediction: Zverev in 3
