Barcelona vs Borussia Dortmund prediction: Champions Leaguye betting preview, odds and tips
@Source: mirror.co.uk
Barcelona have emerged as the new favourites to lift the Champions League trophy this year after Liverpool's surprise exit to PSG in the round of 16. Hansi Flick's side have been dominant in all competitions so far and will have their eyes on a treble with an El Clasico Copa Del Rey final set up for them at the end of the month as well. They welcome a Borussia Dortmund keen to maintain their impressive record in the Champions League as well with last year's finalists looking to go against the odds and beat the second best team in the group stage and statistically the best in the competition right now. The bookies are overwhelmingly backing Barca to see off their German opponents but they will now given their recent slump in form they cannot afford to make mistakes in the business end of the season. Barcelona are on a mission to exorcise the ghosts of their 2010 semi-final loss to Inter Milan, while Borussia Dortmund are eager to break free from years of Bayern Munich's shadow by aiming for consecutive Champions League finals. However, Dortmund faces a daunting challenge against a Barcelona side in blistering form. The Catalans have been on an impressive run, remaining unbeaten in 22 matches with 18 victories. Despite this, they were recently held to a 1-1 draw by Real Betis, where Natan's goal nullified Gavi's early strike. Barcelona still have their sights set on an extraordinary quadruple. They've already secured the Spanish Super Cup and booked a spot in the Copa del Rey final after a thrilling victory over Atletico Madrid, winning 5-4 on aggregate. Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the second leg at the Metropolitano following a dramatic 4-4 draw in the first leg. Before potentially facing Real Madrid in an El Clasico Copa del Rey final, Barcelona must navigate both legs of their Champions League quarter-final and tackle three La Liga fixtures against Leganes, Celta Vigo, and Real Mallorca—games that look favourable on paper. Barcelona are well aware that they can't underestimate Borussia Dortmund, despite the German club's struggles in their domestic league. The Yellow-Blacks have been formidable in European competitions, making them a tough opponent. Dortmund's recent record in the knockout stages is impressive, with their only loss in the last eight coming in last year's final at Wembley against Real Madrid. They've also managed to win three consecutive away matches in these high-stakes games. This strong European form is crucial for Dortmund, as winning the Champions League seems to be their most viable path back into the tournament next season. Given their weak Bundesliga performance, where they sit eighth, five points shy of the top four, their chances of qualifying through domestic success look slim. The bookies have Barca as the favourites going into this match with a best price of 4/11 with bet365 at the time of writing this. Other bookies like William Hill are offering 4/11 on the hosts to have the lead in the first leg while Sky Bet, Paddy Power and SpreadEx all offering 1/3 odds. For Dortmund, they are priced as the outsiders and are best priced with Unibet at the moment at 15/2 while Ladbrokes is offering 6/1 at the moment. Paddy Power, BetMGM and Midnite are all offering the next best at 7/1 with William Hill, Sky Bet and SpreadyEx all offering 13/2 for the Bundesliga club to produce a shock in the competition. A stalemate is best priced at 9/2 with Ladbrokes and SpreadEx at the moment while BetMGM, bet365 and Sky Bet are offering 17/4 odds on the match to end on equal terms. 18+ | Gamble responsibly | gambleaware.org | Odds subject to change 18+ | Gamble responsibly | gambleaware.org | Odds subject to change Bookies CopyBet are offering new customers £60 free bets when they place a £20 qualifying bet.
